What can we the people do to affect the growth of Steemit?
The purpose of this post is to encourage a healthy discussion around the subject in the title. Please comment with a relevant answer and upvote the comment(s) of others whom you feel deserve it.
It is my intention to create comment powered post discussions on a weekly basis. The subjects will be chosen by my awesome FB group, Aspiring Steemit Whales & Dolphins.

Absolutely, share Steemit with everyone you know! I have also been telling everyone I know about it. Though in truth, very few of my friends and family have joined. Two people to be precise. But better two than none!

We need to promote steemit to the masses. It is easy to say promote but the problem is although others find it easy but there are those who needed support. Im not talking about monetary support (although its an aspect) but rather "how to promote" the site. We have seen a good slide before coming a good person in the community (forgot his name) and it was great because with it we can clearly share steemit.
In its simpler form, I think its good, if we could establish a group discussion to tackle the things and knowledge we needed to promote steemit including technicalities.

My question to you would be, exactly how do we attract these new people? Posting amazing content is not enough on its own. We must push further...
Spread the word among friends and followers on other platforms... and do more steemit meetups like the steemfest in Amsterdam. It was so much fun! Also, make (not only steem) but the whole crypto world more user-friendly.... today some people I know just gave up on it because it is too confusing.

I am still advertising it in Bali and not currently getting much of a response, but hopefully the rising price of Steem will help attract people :)

Due to the huge popularity of Facebook I started my group there 6 months ago with the intention of moving people gently from one platform to the other.
It is important to me that my group is dedicated to helping newcomers optimise their Steemit posts, and equally important that we work together as a team, upvoting the articles we see posted there.
I am happy to say that it has been a very successful group, and I no longer post to multiple FB groups. Only this one :)
I cannot say for sure if the group has affected the growth of Steemit, but that is most certainly my intention.
i thought about making "attraction" posts to already known content puplishers from youtube or other platforms and donate some of the rewards including an invitation to steemit.

This makes more sense now, because the rewards pool is totally filled up again + steem price was increasing.
Both really helps attracting to steemit.
The value of donation could matter in terms of attention.
Attracting the right persons could trigger more waves of attention through different social web applications.
Steemit was build to work for everybody with an internet connection.
But i try to keep in mind, to attract the right people at the right time.

If we could attract celebrities to Steemit (who have a big Twitter/FB/YouTube following) this would be the fastest route to getting the word out there.
I used to work in the film industry in London, so I do know a few people. Gerard Butler (from the film 300) and Stan Lee (creator of Marvel Comics) are both personal friends. Though they are rich already! So the money side of it is not the incentive for them. What I must get across to them is the awesome community aspect of Steemit.

And there are several reasons why steemit can't work for anybody right now !

But things will change and steemit will probably be sexy as hell.
at some point it doesn't matter anymore to personally attract people, as the usecases of steem gets more advanced and the usability get's easier.
The goal is, that steemit is about the money but it isn't just about the money.
Steemit is a finished product when it is globally known for being a great and entertaining social media platform with many different usecases or/and having some of the best quality content for several topics.
You are absolutely right. Great content and great community are big factors. Better usability will come in time.

Think commenting and interaction is important and healthy. It is more of what got me going and involved more than posting alone.
For sure. The community here is sooooooooooooo much more friendly than the one I used to interact with on FB.

The only thing I would add to that is to share your posts on FB in the hope that others will see how completely awesome this platform is! And perhaps they will join us :)
As long as steemit remains truly uncensored the very trait of being different from Facebook and Twitter (two censorship awful giants) will speak to more and more people conscience. We can do it!

I think we just need to keep it going the promotion - if people see we always post stuff from a site called steemit and maybe indicate in our shares that we earn some dollar be a small postings they will come i hope.
I use as many social platforms as possible - bring in only 5 people i think yet but more soon I am confident.

Thanks for the comment and sorry for the slow response! Life has been busy. yes, posting on as many other social media platforms is a massive part of getting the word out there. I always share each post to Twitter & Linkedin, though don't have too many followers there. And only two people have joined as a consequence. But better two than none!
no worries - I do not share every post everywhere - just where it fits. Mainly sing Twitter, makes most impact
