How Much is Your Steemit Content Worth?

Have you wondered how much is your content worth here on Steemit? You might get a few cents or dollars paid for it, like I do, but how much is it really worth?

Let's explore the issue

First of all, we should know that markets are efficient, as stated in that theory. That theory is commonly accepted amongst economists as being true.

Now this means that what you get for your post is what it's worth, because the market has efficiently allocated you enough rewards, as much you deserve for that particular post.

But I don't agree with that, I agree that the free market creates efficiency, but I will correct it, and say that:

MARKETS TEND/CONVERGE TOWARDS EFFICIENCY, BUT MAY NOT ALWAYS BE EFFICIENT

And this is a better explanation, since the market at a single moment might not be efficient, but it tends toward it through the function of time. Also the liquidity is playing an important factor, because with low liquidity you got a lot of noise and manipulation, but a high liquidity market is more decentralized and harder to manipulate, so it will be more efficient.

It's technically a function of time & liquidity, where as more and more people trade it, and as more and more time passes by, the market self corrects itself, and reflects an efficient price signal. And since maximum efficiency is always an end goal, but never a present situation, this leaves room for quantitative analysts like me to forecast it, but this is another topic. Definitely a less efficiency = more opportunity, and as the efficiency goes up, the window of opportunity closes.

Steemit Posts

How much is your Steemit post really worth? I don't know, it's up to the market to decide, and Steemit's voting/reward market is not efficient for 2 reasons:

  • Few curators with high SP inequality
  • Steemit being fairly new it needs time to assess different hashtags's worth

So as more and more time passes by, and whales power down, while new people will join us and power up, the curation will be more distributed and equal. And also we will have more time to assess what posts are worth more and what are not.

In the beginning you could earn 10,000$ for a poem. This is obviously wrong, as much as you love literature, this is not a fair value, since it takes away resources for more important topics. But the market will decide eventually.

For example I earned so far roughly 300 SBD, and I've put out a lot of content about investing, that is worth bare minimum 50,000$ cumulatively. I mean I see people sell portfolio management courses for 700$/piece and I have a whole series here for FREE that is as good or even better than your average investment book:

https://steemit.com/money/@profitgenerator/how-to-setup-and-manage-a-portfolio-pt-1-5
https://steemit.com/money/@profitgenerator/how-to-setup-and-manage-a-portfolio-pt-2-5
https://steemit.com/money/@profitgenerator/how-to-setup-and-manage-a-portfolio-pt-3-5
https://steemit.com/mathematics/@profitgenerator/how-to-setup-and-manage-a-portfolio-pt-4-5
https://steemit.com/mathematics/@profitgenerator/how-to-setup-and-manage-a-portfolio-pt-5-5

And a lot more very high quality content, so bare minimum my posts should be worth 50,000$, and if you count in my Monero trading opinions, that could have made people a fortune if they decided to trade them:

https://steemit.com/trading/@profitgenerator/huge-profit-with-monero-92-85-profit-in-5-days
https://steemit.com/trading/@profitgenerator/249-profit-monero-insane-money

So who knows maybe I'm worth 1 million $, but the market has only rewarded me 300$, so it's pretty inefficient to say that politely.

And the thing is, I don't mind, I invest my time and effort here, for the long term, maybe I'll get rewarded later after more people join. For example if the price of STEEM would go up 10x, which it could do easily in my opinion, then that you have been 30,000$, which is a more fair assessment of my value.

I don't say this to brag or to criticize Steemit, but I say this to you, to have faith in Steemit, because your posts are severely undervalued, and if Steemit goes viral, you could earn a lot more money here.

So what can we do? Just promote Steemit relentlessly, because once we hit that critical mass of users, we could really make blogging profitable again, and that would make everyone satisfied here once again!

Could you say that steemit, right now, is lacking liquidity.

So as more and more time passes by, and whales power down, while new people will join us and power up, the curation will be more distributed and equal.

Steemit right now is an iceberg, when it turns into water, then we will have a huge tsunami that will crush all it's competitors that are in it's way.

Excellent, thanks for sharing.

Great post! I'm excited to see what Steemit might be like in a few years. I guess it all depends on how many users the site can attract before people start to get bored (because they don't think it's worth the time).

When it will pay 100$/ your average good quality posts, I don't think people will be bored.

You know it's like those old 80's stock trading terminals, they are colorless and ugly, but I bet they made more money on those than in the shining flashing casino machines, where most people have lost money.

I cant vote and curate. I have checked some upvoters and they even have less SP than me. I can only vote my post.

You probably need more SP for that.

Others who are voting have less SP u know.

Maybe it has to do something with your voting power:
https://steemdb.com/@immarojas
80.95% Voting Power

I dont understand exactly how the curation works and how it ties into the voting power, but it probably does.

I dont even know I have that voting power. My issue is that I cant upvote other posts but only mine when i post. There is no option to upvote others.

Do you have the voting button (gray circle with ^ in it) visible when reading other's articles?

Or what kind of error does it give?

It doesnt show that no.

It happens when you have used your active key to send money, it keeps you logged in the comment section, but not to post, its a bug that i have seen.

Oh so its a bug!let me try ta!

Hi..it didnt do anything.
