Steemit recently made their engineering update where they talked about what they've been up to and where things are going from here.

One of the things said that caught my eye was about the condenser wallet split. They mentioned that with this split they'd be able to add features to Steemit that previously weren't advisable because of security concerns.

After we make these changes, we could implement such changes more rapidly because simply by splitting these two apps we will dramatically reduce the negative impact that would result from a potential worst-case scenario. There are many similar cases in which things that we could not do before due to security concerns we will soon be able to do. Many of these things are features that average users have come to expect from social media in 2019. We're on the road to making a better steemit.com and this is one of the first stops on that road.

I know I've got my top few features I'd like to see implemented and I'm curious what you all would like to see happen on the Steemit frontend. Here's mine.

Notifications

Last time I checked it was 2019 and literally every social app, website, whatever has notifications. Right now I use Steemify for push notifications to my phone, but of course the website should have that by default.

Internal Messenger

Every single thing we do doesn't need to be onchain I think. I'd love to be able to shoot someone a private message, and without sending them .001 Steem or SBD.

A Donations UX Flow

While of course it's possible to send anyone Steem on the blockchain, the UX is not structured in a way that makes that something people would do often. I'd love to have a visible indicator per post and comment to show a button to donate as well as after the fact showing who donated and how much.

I think if we had this a lot more people would donate, and it would give smaller fish a way to make more of an impact.

DTube videos playing inline by default

This is pretty straight forward I'd rather not have to actually go to the dtube site.

Faster Account Creation

I thought this was supposed to happen after the last HF, but I think it's about the same.

Visual difference for "post types"

This is similar to what busy has now, basically creating something that's visually more like a status update as well as a blog post.
