OPINION: What Steemit Needs

in steemit •  5 months ago

REVIVAL Has Steemit lost its focus? Awarding great content. Curation and upvote of quality content. Fun! Getting to know people. A taste of things from around the world. Community and helping one another. Making money as an added benefit.

400 upvotes and only 3 people have not read your post.

Creation rewards for upvoting those at the top of the food chain, not because the content is great.

Buying votes, automated votes.

I really love Steemit! I love the Steemit that allowed me to get to know and make actual friends from the UK, Canada, Australia, Bulgaria, Venezuela, USA, Philippines and Africa.

I love the Steemit that rewards good content, actually reading a post and intelligently commenting on it.

I love the Steemit that had people come by and give you some encouragement, correction and helpful suggestions.

For me the added incentive was some money to be made to help the folks in the Philippines and Eastern Asia.

I like to upvote a post because I like the post.
I like to upvote a post to encourage someone!

Not because my upvote is advantages to me!

Some of the best content is overlooked.

I am not speaking of my own content!

I printed a card to help me invite people to Steemit. Today what do I tell someone that wants to start out new today in Steemit?

I still love Steemit! I still invite people!

No problem! She is beautiful!

Hello @mhm-philippines, I personally like to read the Post to learn from them and be able to comment to contribute my grain of sand. I am sure that motivating everyone to continue reading and publishing quality articles will strengthen the steemit platform. Congratulations and blessings

·

Why publish a post that nobody read? Where is the incentive for quality?
You are one of the good guys! Reading and commenting is what we should do. A good upvote for quality should follow!
Thanks!

I am on Steemit for almost a month and still trying to understand how the system works. But honestly, I am quite disappointed to find out about those bots and curation trails. I think they ruin the wonderful idea for a community.

·

The point of my post is to not just give up or give in, but perhaps we can do something about it.
There are still some great people who help the little guy along the way, my hopes is there would be more, or we would locate the more that already exist.
The truth is, when a person just signs on, they need someone to proverbially hold their hand getting started.
The bots may have their place help the new guy on the block.
We should all be helping one another succeed. I even appreciate when someone tells me I am doing something wrong, if it is helpful.

Perhaps you are right about the bots. I won't give up because I met really nice people here and this platform is a source of inspiration for me. It's a pleasure to share my post with people who actually care. And, although is not a solution, I decided to keep my focus here when I want to share something instead of thinking how to reach a larger audience.

Very nice suggestions with which I agreed. I think this post definitely deserves a resteem and I do it.

·

Thank you for your comments and thank you for the resteem.

·

You welcome mate. You deserve it. By the way, if you need about comment notification, you can log in in busy.org

·
·
·

That is what I do my friend! My point is Steemit could do all of these things. I guess that is why they still call it beta! Thanks!

·

Your welcome :) I want these changes too.

It is really great to meet people from all over the world. Different cultures, food, scenery. Tech stuff, crypto stuff! We can learn about most everything. It’s a great place. The money is a sweet addition.

You are right. This thing for the money I don't know how exactly works. In general, I can't make some good value from some of my posts. Sometimes, I use a bot to vote, but...I am not sure if this is correct at all.

Nice post and I love all your suggestions.
I think one of your tags should be promo-steem.

Thanks for sharing

·

I can try to change the tag. Thank you for the suggestion. Thank you for commenting.

·

I did successfully change the tag. Thanks! This is what I am talking about. Helping each other!

A contest is going on in promo-steem, you will just write about how to promote and you be the luck winner. I will share you the link

·

Thank you! I went and visited the post.

Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by ronafe from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows. You definitely have some really great suggestions here for future improvements. I personally think that having more obvious notifications pop up when a user comments on one of your posts or mentions you would be very useful. I find that quite often I'll go a couple of days before realizing that another user has replied to one of my posts or has mentioned me somewhere, so a feature like that would be great!

Hopefully with HF20 coming up later this month, at least some of these features will be addressed!

·

That would be great! If we are not using Steemd, Steemworld, steem.supply or a ginabot, much can go under our radar.

Thanks for your comments!

·

Mate, temporary until they add this functionality, try to use busy.org for that purpose. There it is available the comment notification. Often, I am loading both pages in my browser - steemit.com and busy.org. From the second one, I watch for the comments notification. Yes, sometimes there are bugs but they fix them fast. Try and see if you like this. You have nothing to lose :)

·
·

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I usually use Steemd.com but I find that I often miss things there, so I'll definitely give that a try!

·

·

Your welcome. I am glad to help :)

Make it ok to post brief comments. Good content can be fun and spur comversation.

So true! Great suggestion! Thanks @wstanley226
