OPINION: What Steemit Needs
REVIVAL Has Steemit lost its focus? Awarding great content. Curation and upvote of quality content. Fun! Getting to know people. A taste of things from around the world. Community and helping one another. Making money as an added benefit.

Creation rewards for upvoting those at the top of the food chain, not because the content is great.
Buying votes, automated votes.
I really love Steemit! I love the Steemit that allowed me to get to know and make actual friends from the UK, Canada, Australia, Bulgaria, Venezuela, USA, Philippines and Africa.
I love the Steemit that rewards good content, actually reading a post and intelligently commenting on it.
I love the Steemit that had people come by and give you some encouragement, correction and helpful suggestions.
For me the added incentive was some money to be made to help the folks in the Philippines and Eastern Asia.
I like to upvote a post because I like the post.
I like to upvote a post to encourage someone!
Not because my upvote is advantages to me!
Some of the best content is overlooked.
I am not speaking of my own content!
I printed a card to help me invite people to Steemit. Today what do I tell someone that wants to start out new today in Steemit?
I still love Steemit! I still invite people!
Improvements
Get back to curation and awards for great content
The bots could be used mostly to chelp the newbie minnow mature.
Add a chat that allows to chat in real time with other Steemians without leaving their blog.
Give better alerts to people that are making comments on our posts.
Let’s get the fun back
Let’s redefine our goals.
Change our algorithm to reward great content.

I am on Steemit for almost a month and still trying to understand how the system works. But honestly, I am quite disappointed to find out about those bots and curation trails. I think they ruin the wonderful idea for a community.
The point of my post is to not just give up or give in, but perhaps we can do something about it.
There are still some great people who help the little guy along the way, my hopes is there would be more, or we would locate the more that already exist.
The truth is, when a person just signs on, they need someone to proverbially hold their hand getting started.
The bots may have their place help the new guy on the block.
We should all be helping one another succeed. I even appreciate when someone tells me I am doing something wrong, if it is helpful.
Perhaps you are right about the bots. I won't give up because I met really nice people here and this platform is a source of inspiration for me. It's a pleasure to share my post with people who actually care. And, although is not a solution, I decided to keep my focus here when I want to share something instead of thinking how to reach a larger audience.

It is really great to meet people from all over the world. Different cultures, food, scenery. Tech stuff, crypto stuff! We can learn about most everything. It’s a great place. The money is a sweet addition.
You are right. This thing for the money I don't know how exactly works. In general, I can't make some good value from some of my posts. Sometimes, I use a bot to vote, but...I am not sure if this is correct at all.
