Does the "Just Write" Advice work for Steemit?

The problem I have with this strategy is one of the first things I was told when I joined Steemit is "Don't post a lot - maximum 4 posts per day".
So which is it?
- Just write
- Don't post a lot
Ah-ha, I thought! Just create multiple accounts!

Yeah, that is frowned upon also.
Well, if people discover they are your accounts (it is right in the Json) and especially if you upvote your own stuff (which I imagine everyone would like to do but daren't for fear of being flagged by the high rollers )
The Dollar-Visibility Problem
Bid bots are getting called out as encouraging spam, but they are not profitable anyway outside of being seen as promotional tools
Without visibility, nobody will see your article in order to vote on it, minnows or whales
Most people are here to post and make money, it is very few here who actually engage with each other (and those people are beautiful golden angels, you make this place worthwhile!) - it's like saying you are in a conversation while just waiting for your own opportunity to speak ;)
Enough complaining, what is your solution?
Organize the site so that communities can form - more like Subreddits than tags, have moderators and encourage putting the spotlight on worthwhile content and people
Have a legit advertising mechanism that puts promoted posts right into the feed rather than into a tab nobody looks at, with everyone having some credits to spend as part of their membership (like a minimum basic income).
Notify people on mention and link without needing a tool such as Gina

My recommendation, just try to be the "beautiful golden angel" you like ...it doesn't mean that you have to post a lot, but you should engage with others and you should be interested in more than just the vote from someone else.
Yeah that is mostly what I have been trying. Schemes and shenanigans don't seem to be the long term way forward regardless ;)
I like the idea of having fun writing and make natural progress but I agree that writing good stuff and reaching nobody can be very frustrating. One thing that I've seen was some communities of curators such as steemstem that look for good content on a specific tag and weekly present a compilation of best posts. I think it is a great way to bring visibility to people who produce good content. @makerhacks maybe you should find people with common interests and create a tag. I personally would be very interested in technology-maker related content and would love to participate in such community if it existed.

In my humble opinion, the most important advantage of this platform is that it eliminates 95% of the money friction. And by that I understand that it makes the road to money shorter. You don't have to go through a convoluted process in which there are guest posts, paid posts, paid links and so on and so forth (not to mention ads that are paid after 30-60 days).
But that doesn't make the road easier. You still have to create and maintain a community by yourself. You know, like in the good ol' times of blogging. That didn't change and it won't change.
Thanks for the heads up on FB about this post, I think you just discovered a solid use case for Facebook Messenger: let other people know about what you wrote on Steemit :)
Agreed, but there is a certain amount of urgency in this platform also because your earnings have to fit into a very short window - in a month any traffic you get will not pay out (though you can hope the person who finds you is also a Steemit user and becomes a follower - vast majority of the world does not know this site exists).
That is still my hope, will stick at it :)
Would be good if there was a feed or opt-in alert built in so that you would be immediately pinged on these things but as a substitute it seems to have worked this time ;)
