Looking For Answers On The New Steemit Savings Feature - Where Is The FAQ Page For Steemit

Steemit New Saving Feature in Wallet

I logged into Steemit today and found the new Saving feature in my wallet. No one seems to know anything about it. I prefer not to write a post like this one just to get an answer. This is not adding value to Steemit, but what choice do I have? There's no other easy way to have my questions answered.

Questions?

  • Where do we find information on this new feature?
  • Does STEEM/SBD earn interest while parked there?
  • Why is there no explanation when a new feature is added?

Am I missing something here? Wouldn't it make sense to have a FAQ page so people can get answers to questions like this?

I checked Google and found a video showing the new feature, but no explanation as to how it works. All I found was posts asking the same question. What is it? What does it do? Why roll something out and not explain it?

I checked @ned @steemit and countless other pages looking for answers and found none.

@steemit would be a logical place to look for answers to new updates, but I found only one post made 7 months ago. Hmm, strange. Social networks need to communicate people. Hello.

Does anyone have a clue where to find information about the new saving feature?

Do you, like me, think there should be a FAQ page for Steemit? I'm sure it's a great feature, but how are we going to get support and buy-in from the community when a new feature rolls out and no explainantion whatsoever is offered? It's baffling to me that intelligent people seem to have missed this detail.

Updated

Special thanks to @skyochica and @steemitguide for providing some answers to some of these questions. Followed and upvoted.

Still no answers as to will ST/SBD earn interest while in savings and still think there needs to be a FAQ page for Steemit. Perhaps @steemitguide will lead the way.

My understanding is that the savings is more a security feature. Funds put in there can't be withdrawn within 3 days, which is longer than the account recovery process should an account be hacked. This would prevent a hacker from clearing out anything kept in savings.

I believe interest rates are the same as the normal wallet. None on steem, 10 percent apr on sd

Thanks for the information. Where is your source? Do you agree there should be a place to easily find these answers so we don't have to clog the feed with people asking the same questions?

Thanks @skyochica. Is @steemitguide the go-to source for questions like this?

If you have any Question to address , PM on steemit.chat @steemitguide , much appreciated to help other's!

Good to know. Thanks

Yes the Steemit PR and customer service team is HORRIBLE.
Obviously they should have a comprehensive release of information no later than the day of hardforks, but ideally before. Not very difficult, yet not happening...Bad signs for the future of Steemit if they cant even let people know about how they are changing our bank accounts and such...

It would be more beautiful if the savings account earns interest.

does the savings account NOT earn interest???
That would make NO sense as just holding SD DOES earn interest...

Yes that is correct. There was a post about it by @steemitguide

I am looking for the exact same, I have been playing about with it now no sure what I have done. There's nothing on site :(

@skyochica added some insight from @steemitguide which a added to the bottom of this post.

Great thank you :)

There was some info as part of the last hardfork, I think it was too prevent from hacks or something. I can't remember tho, sorry!!

I appreciate your response but have no idea what a hardfork means. I'm sure many users feel the same way.

Thank you!! I was wondering how it worked.

You're welcome. I'm sure you, me and soon to be 100K more users are goi.g to clog the thread asking tbese same questions. Do you know of a source on Steemit that answers basic user questions like this? Is it in the works or do we have to create posts to find out?

Appreciate that you have been sharing my post :) , i will keep myself updated! I followed you now ! Steem on my friend @luzcypher

We're following each other. Thanks for answering our questions.Where did you discover the sources for your informative post?

I usually just browse through my follower list, i spend a lot of time sourcing information. As always i'm also just learning about Steemit, so correct me if i'm wrong. You can checkout my following list for few accounts. I also keep up with Steemit Forums and active on Steemit.Chat

Thank you, I had no idea wtf that was. Very confusing like you said. Definitely needs to be an FAQ in the side bar.

Awesome, this is great but I still would like these to be put into the right sidebar. An FAQ and/or at least a change log ling of everything that's been modified. This would keep people informed, active and keep them more connected to the community.

I believe that's the next step. That's what I heard talk about.

Wouldn't it make sense to have a FAQ page so people can get answers to questions like this?

Quoted almost in full, as you raise a valid point, and your complaint is justified, especially since this is not the first time a new feature is rolled out along with a bugfix hardfork without a) prior discussion or b) at least a belated, authoritative explanation. Let us not even talk about c): proper documentation.

Most changes were for the better, IMHO, but how this behaviour can be considered trust-building is beyond me.

There is not even one blog where such info would be accumulated, so each time you have, as you said, hunt down @ned, @dan, @dantheman, @steemit, @steemitblog and whatnot. It's utterly discouraging and, to be blunt, unprofessional.
