One month in...112 followers and counting...making Steemit an experience worth living! 

To write it down in a single explanatory sentence, that introductory statement sums up my first month as a Steemian. It's been one heck of an adventure as I get past the initial learning curve and take off the training wheels. What a time it's been in Steemland!

Why has it been such a "Horn Blowing" blast, when it has only been a month? The answer couldn't be anymore plain to see. All you fellow Steemians, especially the 112 followers who have engaged me, deserve all the credit! 

In The Beginning: A HUGE Post.....Then Nothing - Nobody Knows Who You Are!

I thought to myself, "What's going on here?" After a few posts to get started, I wrote one that returned with an enormous reaction from the Steemit community! WooHoo! This was going to be easy, but then came nothing. 

A few more posts and I realized (as I already knew inside) that I was nothing more than a guppy in a much larger reservoir! The lack of response to my fantastic and benchmark works wasn't anything personal. It wasn't that people didn't like it. Nobody was seeing it!

Without having any followers, why would I (or anybody else) expect anyone to see my articles? Write quality content when you are brand new and it sparkles! People find it. It doesn't take long for the shine to wear off, but that's when the real adventure begins. 

Smart Bait Fish Swim With The School!

It's kind of funny in a way that Steemit should use the analogy of whales, dolphins, and minnows to describe its members. You see, I'm an offshore fisherman and I've spent a good amount of time around all those creatures. Every one of them that lives in that great blue sea has my utmost respect. 

In the ocean, pelagic species know their place in order of the food chain. They must or they won't survive. Anchovies and sardines swim in schools, or else present a yummy target to a hungry predator. 

Luckily, the drama that unfolds under the surface of saltwater fields isn't as lethal here in Steemland! You won't get swallowed up if you drift around for a while, but you might fade away....

If no one is engaging in your hard thought work, what's the point of sticking around anyway? As I was drifting, another school of fish swam by. They were quite friendly, and even paused in their journey for a moment, to let me join.

For those of you who are new and for all the minnows that may be struggling, find a school to swim with. Those fellow Steemians will be your support group. This is my second song embed challenge in honor of all 112 of my followers. The rules of entry are easy as 1 2 3.

I suppose you'll be needing a few song clues so the challenge isn't a shot in the dark. For now, I'll try to stay with picks that are popular enough that most people would know them. If you have a suggested song category or genre for the next challenge, leave it in your comment. 

Staying with the topic of the great boundless blue sea, this song is an oldie but a goodie. The single was released in 1974 and written in the State of Florida, where an upcoming musician had just moved. If you're getting into those middle aged years (like I am well into), and you've ever felt like there's just not the right job out there for you, this song will already be on your hit list! Good luck. It should be an easy one as the challenge is still getting revved-up!
