Invest and then learn? What a way to do things, but here I am. Eager as a kid in a candy store to get involved in the crypto craze! So I exchanged Steem for Dogecoin & Bitshares. Then last night, I figured I better learn more about them. Here's what I found. 

Dogecoin: What The Heck Is Dogecoin?

Dogecoin came into existence back on Dec 6, 2013. It was developed by a programmer named Billy Markus as an alternate and more fluid coin than bitcoin. Having a much larger volume than other coins with an initial destination of 100 billion Dogecoins, it now offers an infinite number to be mined. 

Dogecoin doesn't yet have an application in the physical realm, but it used widely online for the purpose of tipping. Especially on Reddit, Dogecoin provides a means for internet users to leave gratuity to another user for their quality content.

Current State Of Dogecoin

I put in with Dogecoin at $0.0036 just a few days back, and caught the incline as it was still rising. As I write this today, it is bouncing around $0.0061 per Dogecoin. A sub-penny coin, I'd guess you'd say. What's interesting to note about Dogecoin is that they've been without a lead developer for quite some time. 

Dogecoin does have a strong community that has accomplished great humanitarian works in impoverished areas of the world. They even crowd-sourced enough to send a physical Dogecoin on a real life mission to the moon. It's scheduled to touch down in the year 2019. 

Why the recent uptick in Dogecoin? Perhaps it's just riding along with other alt-coins as bitcoin rises. There is news, however, that the Dogecoin community has reached out to the internet world in search of a new lead developer. It would be a thankless position, but the right person might give wings to an otherwise floundering blockchain.   

Bitshares: What's The Deal With Bitshares?

I'm betting a good amount of readers know more about Bitshares than I do, but here's the gist of it. Bitshares is an exchange platform for cryptocurrencies. Its open-source software is available for all the public to use. Want to trade one kind of coin for another? Bitshares offers 1 of several exchanges where you can do that. Because Bitshares utilizes blockchain technology to run the platform, it does have its own coin. 

Current State Of Bitshares

When I first invested in Bitshares last week, the price was $0.391 per coin. It also has been seeing a strong upward trend. After getting in, Bitshares continued slightly up, then dipped below what I had bought for. That prompted me last night to move more SBD to Steem, then exchange for an additional amount of Bitshares. Today, Bitshares is slightly back up again.

There's A Deal In The Works Between Bitshares & AriseBank

Recent reports of a partnership between Bitshares and AriseBank may be part of the reason for the recent upward swing in Bitshares value. AriseBank is a start up crypto bank that is already open with offices in Dallas and Dubai. It may seem like an oxymoron that crypto would have a bank. A closer look at AriseBank shows a solid plan to keep customer's info anonymous. AriseBank is also working with such companies as Visa and Marqeta to bring their vision to reality. They have their own coin listed as AEX. ATM's and Crypto banks across the USA and the world? What do you think?

Keep in mind that my initial investments were with extremely moderate amounts of cryptocoin. Still, a wiser me would have read up and learned all this before jumping in. I'll be keeping a close eye on both Dogecoin and Bitshares for the time being, and report back with any new info I find. Hopefully, this info helps educate you so you don't have to do it.....after you invest.
