Steemit & open, linked data
I am very captivated by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web whose views on open, linked data has made me think of an idea which I truly believe could make Steemit make a giant leap forward.
#Steemit as we know it is a social media platform where everyone gets paid for creating and curating content, which is fine, but what if we could make Steemit more rewarding and get more #Steem #blockchain rewards for the publishers and curators.
Tim Berners-Lee is no friend of #Facebook, because he believes Facebook has embarked upon a commercial project whose sole aim is to make the world more “connected” but less open. Facebook is what he calls a “walled garden” which is a controlled space in which people are allowed to do things while enabling Facebook to monetise data trails. One network to rule them all. If you wanted a vision of the opposite of the open web, then Facebook is it..
If Steemit used a method of publishing structured data so that it can be interlinked and become more useful, wouldn’t Steem blockchain rewards for the publishers and curators be more rewarding? I below it would
I am not suggesting that Steemit becomes #wikipedia who uses open, linked data, or believe we shouldn’t be a Facebook also, but that of a happy medium in-between.
So what are your views on a way forward?
