Steemit Marketing Post Designs

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Recently I have been trying to explore my creative side by producing crypto infused art. While trying to teach myself how to do basic graphic design I asked the Steemit community for advice. @sumsum suggested I try out Canva.com.

In light of Steemit announcing a new crowd sourced marketing campaign, I decided to create a few simple promotion mock ups using canva. These are not intended for commercial use, instead they are intended to provide some inspiration going forward.

I always do my best to follow guidelines for copyright and usage on this blog. Canva's terms of use policy is a bit confusing so if anyone has experience with their policies please provide some clarification in the comments below.

These designs were created using https://www.canva.com/

I would love to get feedback about the designs, about the marketing strategy and anything else!

Which of the three designs do you like best?

How do you think Steemit should be marketed?

I hope these will inspire the artists on Steemit to create their own unique Steemit graphics!

I will be posting a second set of graphics focusing on freedom of speech and Steemit

UPDATE: Part 2

haha, I always appreciate a good meme, here have an upvote!

@digicrypt this is SUCH a good idea. Developing an open source / Creative Commons collection of high quality marketing assets for Steemit, such as these, would be a huge step towards facilitating the decentralized / community marketing efforts on Steemit.

Thanks! You got it! That is really my goal, to inspire people to develop promo graphics under cc in an open source collection that can be spread through community marketing on other platforms. I am going to release a second set focusing on marketing steemits freedom of speech, hopefully this will get other artists thinking and developing graphics better than these!

I like what you have done but I think it might be disadvantageous to advertise as if making money is what this platform is about. Although it is a lovely bonus, there is enough shit in media and other social media sites to centre marketing strategy around the 'Freedom of Speech' aspect of the platform. Dissatisfaction in a brand is often the best weakness to exploit to convince people to support your brand.

Very good points. I wrote a post awhile ago covering this.

I actually did a few mock ups focused on freedom of speech, censorship etc... they just are not finished yet. I will try and post those as well when I have the time to finish. Thanks for your feedback!

Canva is an amazing source and you did a nice job on those graphics.

Yeah it is very cool! I am having a great time using these graphic design tools! Thank you!

Great work. Love them all! Thanks for putting your energy into this important matter.

Thank you! I am happy to help grow Steemit!

Great Work! It's a wonderful start. Looking great, let's promote!

Thanks! @tradz and thanks for the resteem :)

Great job @digicrypt I love how you did this!

Don't get me wrong @digicrypt, I think you've done very good job with those designs. They are clean, simple and clear, which I highly appreciate, but…

Using a general design platform (like https://www.canva.com/) usually results in faceless design, similar to many others made by the same platform. It does not stand out, and does not lasts in memory. I tend to prefer not-so-perfect but passionate personalized designs, which has its own recognizable style, like you can see with @stellabelle, @karenmckersie, @mynameisbrian or @kingscrown.

So, I would say Canva will have it's use, but best while having in mind it's good sides and limitations.

Thanks for the feedback! As I said in the post "These are not intended for commercial use, instead they are intended to provide some inspiration going forward." My goal isn't so much to use these designs but to inspire other talented artists on Steemit to create graphics, hopefully better than mine. I totally acknowledge the limitations of canva and especially my graphic design abilities lol.The idea is to start a crowd sourced movement to create promotional material letting the best rise to the top and then be disseminated by the community. If I can encourage others to think or create, then this post will have succeeded. Thanks again for the input!

Thank you for making me discover this site !

Your Welcome!I have only been playing around with it for a day or two, but it is pretty cool!

Nice designs. I like the 2nd followed by 1st & then 3rd.
BTW don't forget to include the Steemit logo somewhere.

Thanks for your input! Canva's user agreement and copyright policy is a little vague when it comes to logos, that's why I left it off. Hopefully other artists who are more talented than I am can use this as inspiration to create their own designs!

Oh I see. Great stuff nontheless! I'm following. Don't stop!

Thanks for your support!
