There are some steemains on this platform that deserve an accolade for the good work that they are doing on the steem platform. Such people I call them noble steemains because they have been supporting this platform in one way or the other.

Over the course of time, I will be introducing you to many of the noble steemains here in our community and trying to get to know each of them little better. I have taken this upon myself to shed more light on who this noble steemains are and what they are capable of doing.

Today I would like to introduce you another great man here on steemit. A poet and the organizer of 100 days poetry challenge.

Join me as I welcome @d-pend to the show....

Welcome to it's all about our noble Steemians with @dhavey. I'm happy that you honored the invitation. It's an honor conversing with a great all the way from Boone, NC!

@dhavey—Can you tell those reading this how you first heard about Steemit and what motivated you to join?

@d-pend—Hey @dhavey, thanks for the invite. I first heard about Steemit after I'd been investing in the crypto space for a year or so. It was in June 2017 when most currencies were on a bull run. I kept seeing people drop links to articles from Steemit and I had no idea what it was. I went to the site and requested my account and had it verified the next morning. I quickly became fascinated with the idea and enjoyed all the content and people I was discovering basically from Day 1.

@dhavey—As a Steemian what is the biggest challenge you have ever faced since you joined Steemit?

@d-pend—Deciding to commit a lot of my time and energy to Steemit wasn't an easy decision. I knew it could not be considered a "job" but felt we are on the verge of a new paradigm of what work looks like. I've written content (mostly poetry and music) and posted pretty consistently on a daily basis for nearly a year. There were a lot of times I could have quit but I never have.

@dhavey—As the organizer of Steem Schools Poetry 100 Day Challenge, what can you say motivated you to start this challenge?

@d-pend—I've seen a lot of challenges on Steemit and never thought I would create one because I'm not that competitive when it comes to art. However, I saw great personal and artistic benefit from my practice of daily writing and posting poems on Steemit and I wanted to help bestow that gift on others, as well.

@dhavey—What has been the response of Steemians concerning the poetry challenge?

@d-pend—It got a huge response which I was surprised about! Initially we had 135 participants, so it's been a big task keeping up with everything.

@dhavey—As the organizer, do you usually go through all the poetry been written by steemians or you just pick at random?

@d-pend—I have people helping me curate, because it's unfeasible for me to read every single piece. That being said each poem does get read by someone.

@dhavey—As a poet, how many poetry do you usually write in a day?

@d-pend—I tend to write at least one short poem a day. Sometimes I will write much longer pieces, or several in one day, editing and publishing them slowly. It varies. And I do have days where I don't write but try to make them very sparing.

@dhavey—After the 100 days poetry challenge organized by you, are you planning to organize any contest again?

@d-pend—That's a good question, one I've gotten a lot. With how much work this project took, I'd have to think long and hard about doing anything like it again. If I did, I'd do it much differently and have a whole team to help me from the beginning. As of now no other huge challenges are planned after this one :-)

@dhavey—If you ask some Steemians, they will tell you that they are not steeming for rewards and all that they need is just relationship with other steemains, now if rewards are removed from steem, would you still blog on steem?

@d-pend—In all honestly, probably not. Not because I only care about rewards, but because Steemit as a platform (as of now, June 2018) does not work very well compared to traditional social media platforms. I do love the community and the rewards but the user interface needs massive improvement.

@dhavey—Yeah, making friends and building relationships is good on this platform, can you tell us those Steemains that as contributed and impacted your blogging experience since you joined steemit?

@d-pend—I would feel bad to make a list because I know I'd be leaving so many people off. People come and go on Steemit, some of them have even passed away. But I'm extremely grateful to everyone who I've connected with over the past year. Without them I wouldn't still be here.

@dhavey—Can you tell the community one thing that people will remember you for even if you quit Steemit today?

@d-pend—I think I'd be looked at as someone who tried to grow the poetic community on Steemit. Whether I have been successful or not, who knows, but I have certainly tried :-)

@dhavey—If you could give advice to newbies on how to be successful on this platform, what would it be?

@d-pend—I would recommend making lots of meaningful comments daily. Better to make comments than even blog, at first. Make real connections with people, not just about what they post. If you have the fianances to, invest in some Steem Power and/or SP delegation. Be very consistent and keep persevering even when everyone around you makes excuses and quits.

@dhavey—As a Steemian do you think finding a niche rather than posting some random stuff?

@d-pend—Finding a niche is important, but you can pepper in some other types of content for variation. It's all up to you to express your passion and skills. Be yourself, don't try to do something because you think it will make money.

@dhavey—If there was one thing you could do or suggest to make Steem more interesting and attractive to users, what would that be?

@d-pend—Oh, man. There's a million ways I can think of. The user interface on Steemit is completely embarrassing. Who would want to use Steemit over Facebook, except to make money? Steemit is very clunky and inconvenient to use. It needs to be updated to run seamless and streamlined like any other modern social media platform. As far as the STEEM blockchain, I think it's a fantastic cryptocurrency, and I wouldn't pretend I know how to change it to be improved.

@dhavey—Any perfect vacation place for a noble Steemian like you?

@d-pend—This might sound boring, but I like to stay in one place for a while. So my "vacation" would be moving to another country for a few months. I've done that in South India but hope to do it all over the world, when the time is right.

@dhavey—What can you say about this show?

@d-pend—I appreciate you hosting it and reaching out to me to be a guest! Keep up the good work.

@dhavey—It's an great honor conversing with you @d.pend Thanks for coming for the show. Have a wonderful day :handshake:

@d-pend—Thanks, you too!
