The most important thing ever: #UseSTEEM or we all loose!steemCreated with Sketch.

Is it just me or people seem to not get the most important thing ever?

You should USE your STEEM!

There should be thousands of posts about creating quality content, strategy for becoming a whale, how to earn reputation and the like. Yet it seems to me that nobody talks about creating new ways to use STEEM... WTH!!!

Look at steemit as a whole new country, now we are talking about an economy of scale, big words!

Let's analyze two simple facts together then you tell me if using STEEM is the most important thing ever or not:

Fact #1: New STEEM is created at 100% ratio!

@fiveboringgames did a concrete analysis based on steemstats and the STEEM whitepaper in this article: STEEM creation seems to have increased significantly over 100% a year.

This is simple, more STEEM is being created, which is cool but more things must happen along with coinage.

Fact #2: Power Down is discouraged! But people needs to pay the bills!

My own article 104 weeks to cashout my hard earned Steem Dollar... I want it all and I want it now! got comments about why to hold. Yet we have the @curie project talking about new authors that need to monetize so they can dedicate more time to create more and better content: "Some of our members do this for free and others receive some small payment, since they are humans and have bills to pay" (from: Announcing Project Curie: Bringing Rewards and Recognition to Steemit’s Undiscovered and Emerging Authors). That of course requires them the cash out in order to pay for food, electricity, Internet and bed... sooner or later, cash out needs to happen!

What happens when we put Fact #1 and Fact #2 together? In other words, what is the consequence of having more STEEM created along with more people needing to exchange their STEEM for Bitcoin:

INFLATION

Inflation
"In economics, inflation is a sustained increase in the general price level of goods and services in an economy over a period of time.[1] When the price level rises, each unit of currency buys fewer goods and services. Consequently, inflation reflects a reduction in the purchasing power per unit of money – a loss of real value in the medium of exchange and unit of account within the economy." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inflation

Then we get people looking for ways to stabilize the price of STEEM... Come on! Really? we can't and actually we shouldn't control the price of STEEM, in such case relay on fiat since it already has "experts" warming their chairs paid with your taxes... (stop blaming here).

What we can do is to influence the price of STEEM, which is a good and healthy practice.

How can we influence STEEM price for the good of everyone?

Possible answers:

  • Ask whales to hold and exchange "carefully"... WRONG! They should cover themselves first
  • Hold STEEM, SD and SP... WRONG! Check Fact #2 above again
  • Look for investors to buy STEEM... WRONG! Investors know their business pretty well, they aren't charities
  • Look for charities/non-profits/government agencies/etc. to invest on STEEM for any reason... WRONG! Steemit is a for-profit economy and there is people doing big money already
  • Change the SD:SP ratio and STEEM coinage algorithms... WRONG! changing the rules all the time only creates troubles, again we should not control the economy
  • ...

In short we learned that "Power Down is evil", cool! Now learn that exchanging STEEM is most of the time evil too.

Please everyone listen, if you want the good of STEEM and steemit, please listen:

You should USE your STEEM!

I beg you please USE your STEEM !!

How can people #UseSTEEM?

First of all please help me bump #UseSTEEM up as a trending topic, because that is how we'll get steemit to the next level and do good for everyone, along with saving the day, the week and maybe the year of those authors who love what they are doing. They put their hopes on this wonderful country called steemit, don't ignore them!

OK OK OK !!! Time to answer the million dollars question!

The best way of fostering #UseSTEEM is focusing on it. Let's focus our creative minds on creating new ways for using STEEM and to improve & extend the existing ones. Just have it clear that exchanging STEEM for Bitcoin is not what we are looking for.

This is what we should be doing:

Allow people to buy more and more goods & services straight with STEEM

Let's #UseSTEEM actively! Let's promote all sorts of business that accept STEEM! Let's foster STEEM based ventures!

Together we can make it happen!

This is great and I want to also promote this: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemrollin/peerhub-bringing-steem-beyond-social-networks-to-the-new-economy

The more sellers who accept steem the more steem stays as steem. This diminishes selling pressure and will result in a net accumulation of more value in the market cap of steem. Steem is worth nothing if nobody uses it as a bank.

Here's my take on it:

That was simple to understand! Thank you. I look forward to when we can acquire most any good or service using steem. It's gonna happen! With the energy, brilliance, creativity and tenacity I've witnessed here so far, success is the only option!

Super cool @lyndsaybowes! Motivation is key here! Please, if you manage to know about a new good or service one can buy straight with STEEM (not by exchanging or payment gateways that exchange for other currency) then share the link or even better, write a post for the #UseSTEEM tag.

I'm still learning all I can about Steem ~ And totally loving being here. I'm looking at establishing a GoFundMe campaign so that I can self publish some of my photographic images, drawings and watercolours as greeting cards and small books ~ And will be more than happy to accept Steem. Glad to support #UseSTEEM.

Hurray!!! Welcome to the cause!

Apart from my art and photographic work, I make what I call 'nests' from natural materials. They are one-offs and can be used as hanging baskets or 'ornaments.' It would be quite challenging to export them out of Australia though ~ Customs etc. Have registered and shared on one of my FB Pages.

Will design a post today about my 'nests' and mention they'll be available in Australia, for Steem, when Peerhub expands internationally. #UseSTEEM

What is the difference between exchanging steem for bitcoin / dollars and buying other things with steem? In both cases there is a value flow.

Good question!
When you exchange STEEM for Bitcoin, you are pushing STEEM exchange rate down, because the exchange market now has more STEEM supply.
When you buy something for STEEM, you exchange it for real value: a good or a service. It will even push the market to buy STEEM in order to acquire more goods and services.
Also, as we create more ways to #UseSTEEM, we build a chain and eventually the full loop, so less STEEM is circulating in exchanges, influencing the price up :)

The difference is if the seller accepts steem or not. That's what this is promoting. To buy and sell.

You just killed me big time with your simplicity master!

Ho hum. I should probably post some articles about tarot, and offer to do readings with Steem/SBD. :-)
