What gets your post noticed?

@weetreebonsai has done a great job with this series so far to help YouTubers make the step into the land of Steemit. It's kinda weird and maybe even a little scary at first. It's so different from YouTube. Thank you @weetreebonsai for sharing your gift of encouragement with us YouTubers to give us that kick in the pants we need to make Steemit our second home! Ok, seriously... What gets your post noticed?

Well, you are here from YouTube so you are familiar with the importance of the THUMBNAIL IMAGE, DESCRIPTION and TITLE. Here on Steemit there are some similar variables but they work just a little differently.

You may think that the TAGS are the main key. Well, they are very important as discussed here, but the TAGS are really just to put you in the correct category. Once you are in the correct category to be found your post needs to stand out and here's 3 very important components to making that happen:

1. TITLE
2. FIRST IMAGE
3. FIRST SENTENCE

Take a look at the following image and notice how the IMAGE, TITLE and FIRST SENTENCE all tell a little story. They allow the reader to quickly assess what is this post about? What am I going to get out of this?

I realize that my examples there may not be the best, but they do illustrate my point. You Can Do THIS even better once you understand how all the components of a post work together to get you noticed.

Tell A Story

Use that TITLE and FIRST SENTENCE to tell a little word story. Make that FIRST IMAGE be something that supports your word story. Notice in this post that there are 2 images. It's the first one that gets used by Steemit to be your thumbnail. It does NOT have to be at the top of your story, but does have to be the first image in the post.

NOTE - If you embed a YouTube video it will act as your first image. However, (I believe I'm correct in this) a Vimeo video will not be recognized as an image

There are many great articles on Steemit about HOW TO FORMAT A POST like a professional. Please do a search for those and support your favorite articles with a follow and a vote. This post is really just to highlight those 3 important variables to help you stand out in the Steemit Feed!
