Minnows Instant Guide to Posting: Monetizing Your Account
Being new here, one can be discouraged by seeing the lack of upvote from fellow Steemians particularly after drafting that great content. Noted that not that Steemians don't want to upvote your great content, but actually, they do not 'see you'.
What does this mean? it means you haven't got enough follower to read your blog. When you do, that upvotes will come. So, have patience and grow your network. In this article, I put some of the things you can do to monetize your account as a minnow. Get all the checklist done and you will soon see that your $0.01 post to worth more than that maybe $0.30 maybe? aiiiii don't be greedy? lol.
Jen's Master Checklist
(Give me a break will you? let my name there for time being ^_^ )
Introducing Yourself Post
If you already make your introduction post and it does not gain a lot of attention, you may be doing it in a rush (based on my own experience). You can make a second introduction post again but this time take your time. The first time I make my introduction post it is so simple, I then was given the idea to make another one. You can have a look at my post here:
Hi, Howdy, Hey, Aloha STEEMIT! I Brought Myself Here ^_^
When making an introduction post, there are set of things you need to put in. Audience must read a lot of things about you, your passion, about the future of you in Steemit, about what are you going to blog, the expectation of you, where you from and to the extent if you can, tell every hobby that you have, your pet name and any interesting things about you. don't forget to use the [hashtag]introducemyself hashtag and the most important thing is to be catchy and take a picture with Steemit logo at you.
I read one interesting post about posting introduction post. Please check it out as it is a very influential man in Steemit ( @teamsteem ). Go ahead read and apply.
Hello Steemit! - Coinmarketcap.com Introduced Me!
eSteem Apps
Here is the rule as of now, if it changes later then this step maybe became obsolete.
if you post using eSteem apps, there is a high chance that the creator and his bot (or friends) will upvote your post instantly.
Expect at least $0.30.
Cool right? Maybe it is some of the initiatives by the creator @good-karma . Let's applaud to that! Even that, eSteem is a great mobile app so be sure to have them!
Find your countrymen
Steemit is a great community that supports each other. To be noticed, I reckoned you to find your countrymen. I have this problem in the first place but with my investigative nature, I finally met my fellow Malaysian and they are a bunch of awesome people. By having your community around you, you will get more motivations and normally your post will get upvoted by them and even resteem. If you are from some small country and you thought you are alone then maybe you're wrong.
Cheers to @bitrocker2020 who did an amazing job for teammalaysia ! take a bow
Here are some tips for finding your countrymen.
- Search a group in your facebook. Keyword : Steemit yourcountry , yourcountry Steemit
- Search them on Steemit search. Keyword : teamYourcountry, country
- If else failed, go to eSteem apps, go to 'About'--> scroll down and find your country language. The contributor of that language are often one of your countrymen. After that, stalk on his/her post. By contributing to the translation, the logic is that he/she is someone who helps the community. Find the connection to your hommies. I actually found through this method.
Use @Minnowsupport service
Warning, for minnows only
Minnowsupport is an initiative runs by the community to help minnows like us. There are a lot of guides to use this service, but I will briefly simplify here to get you started.
- Use discord service (web or apps), join the server at this invitation 'https://discord.gg/HYj4yvw' . You will be directed to PAL (Peace, Abundance, and Liberty) channel
- From PAL, go to sub channel [hashtag]start-here to read some post and go to channel [hashtag]register to register your ID. At the register channel, you will find the instruction and need to deposit (very small fee) to the bot account. There will be 2 accounts to deposit. After you deposited, you will need to come again to the channel to check your registration. Then, go to the PAL channel, go to [hashtag]upvote sub-channel and use the service. Note how the people in there use the command to upvote.
Rule and good gesture
- RULE: You can only use the service once every 12 hours.
- RULE: It is a community project, don't abuse
- Be sure to remember this project in future and give credit where credit is due
- Heads to the general sub-channel to mingle around with the good folks there.
Steemfollower
Every single day I dedicated my morning to upvote some people and I do this by using 'Steem Follower'. I set up a rule for myself to not drain my voting power below 49%. If I still have more than that, I will be voting more.
What you do is, after you signed up, go to the 'upvote change' tabs and you will be looking at random post list. Upvote the post you like and refresh it to get a new list. Your voting weight is set to 45.55% which is for me quite reasonable. Sign up to Steem follower here :
When you upvote the post you like, you are done. The system then will show your post to other users, and if they like it, they will upvote you. I followed this service via Steemnow and noticed an upvote weight of 45.55% on my post so my post is definitely being circulated fairly to this network. Use this link to sign up :
Use all the upvoting bots
To further monetize your post, use all of the upvoting service available if you may. If you do not have SBD at the moment, don't worry, you have at least 6 days to use it as your post payout is due in 7 days time. Here is the list of some upvoting bot. Please note that set of rules applied for some bot.
- @minnowbooster - Minimum 0.5SBD, limit is 2 post per day
- @randowhale - Minimum 1SBD
- @bellyrub - voting base on bids. Time frame 2.4hours
- @booster - voting base on bids. Time frame 2.4hours
To use this services I advise that you do your homework, particularly on ROI part. Additionally, you can read an old post of mine but I only reviewed 3 of them.
Final word
There you go my fellow wonderful minnows. These are the steps in my view that is doable to monetize your post. Apply it if you like and I am sure you will get that upvotes. However, please be reminded to add a good content in Steemit and not some copy paste story. If you got caught by Cheetah bot, you better say your remorse!. I too was convicted once and it is a shameful day. I underestimate this platform but not anymore!.
Have a great day everybody.
Jen

Thanks for the info my friend. This will sure help me as I just started out my journey on Steemit. Great info. :)
You're welcome
I haven't look into the upvoting votes. Maybe one of these days. So far what work for me is to participate in contests. I gained new followers (though slowly) everytime I participated in contests. Probably a bit easier in my case since I am an artist but there are all kinds of contest in Steemit that doesn't require artistic skills.
Yes you are right @coloringiship , contest is a good way to connects people. There are lots of contest here in steemit. Me on the contrary did not find any contest that suits me. Sigh
We just got to find what works for us. I find that constant socializing/commenting is draining. I am introvert so that is a struggle for me.
That is a new perspective to look at hmmmmmm.... interesting
thanks for this post, I had some ideas of what to do.
You are welcome Mr turtle ^_^
Thank you for this post. I'm immediately downloading eSteem and searching Facebook for a Steemit group of my city. This could also be a good opportunity to create one if none exists yet. @Minnowsupport and Steemfollower services also look interesting, I was wondering what they were as I see them being mentioned around here.
Wow ! It is great to see that i'm helping people. By the way, take your time to digest everything here ok! It took me a couple of weeks to understand all but I am still learning.
Great post Jen @cikxaijen ! Thanks for doing this .. it helps out everyone new here.
Thanks @bitrocker2020 ^_^
The writing is very interesting and enlightening, especially for me as a newcomer in steemit. Maybe I can immediately put into practice some of the things suggested @cikxaijen
Thank you very much for the information I am most looking for
Thank you. I sure hope it helps my fellow steemians get started. ^_^
Once again, thank you so much. I'm really happy to find this post and meet you here @cikxaijen. Thank you.
