The True Awesomeness Of Steemit! Volcano Evacuee Charity Post Makes My Week :)
Steemit is more than just a social media website, charities are most welcome to receive positive feedback and get donations through the Steem Blockchain.
I recently read @samstonehill's post where he was facilitating a charity for the Evacuees of the volcano in Bali to receive solar powered light in their refugee camps!
@samstonehill has already raised $300 after 3 days of fundraising, this is spectacular! Us, the Steemit community want to see more original and charitable causes being promoted on Steemit.
Volcano?
The largest volcano on Bali, Mount Agung, last active in 1963 is showing strong tremors and dangerous activity could ensue.
A relief effort is being coordinated by Kopernik, IDEP, Bumi Sehat, Rio Helmi, Rucina Ballinger and the Green School Parents. MySundaya will also be providing solar powered electricity kits for the local community in refugee camps which do not have access to power.
These are some of the local organisations supporting as many of the current +140,000 evacuees through the creation of toilets and provision of supplies for people who have so far reached some of the the 500+ camps outside of the evacuated area declared unsafe by the government.
No one has any idea how long they will have to live in these camps. Nor when or even if Mount Agung will erupt.
Why Is Steemit A Better Charity Platform?
If you wanted to donate to a mainstream charity platform like WHO, PETA, UNICEF, etc you would need to donate by Cheque, Cash, Wire Transfer or Paypal. These methods often take time or are unavailable, not ideal if you are helping people in need.
If you are in a country in Africa or Asia that doesn't instigate such systems as wire transfer how would you donate? Steemit transfers are instant and 100% transparent so charities can be strictly tracked as well.
Steemit is obviously a charitable site as everone witnessed more than 10,000 USD in Steem raised for fellow steemian @darthnava's surgery.

Maybe you should connect to @VoiceShares? Just an idea... I would create a coin which can be traced so that you can be sure that they can buy just food and other necessities and it doesn't end up in some deep pockets... This could be a huge project @Chron, blockchain charity,
