Steemit Needs Series: Please comment with your ideas to improve Steemit!! | E. 13 | Aug. 8th, 2017 | Community Engagement | Archives to help Developers / Community.
Hi again everyone! I am keeping my word to keep the series going!
I would like you to comment with your visual aids or written ideas of what you think Steemit can use to improve the Community for features and why.
Comments sections here are GOLD as we know, some great TIL learning and tips usually pop up too here.
Part of the reason I do this series and share other things / series I do, is for the TON of new people coming to Crypto and Steemit daily, I mention this daily in a post or comment somewhere.
They need help and resources. They feel lost when they are Steemit / Crypto noobs. I know I did.
It's now several weeks or so after the latest big changes, the latest Hard Fork (HF) / the Steem Powering downs latest rounds, many of those cashouts done and seeing some stabilizations, some bugs fixed etc.
The rewards pool is seeing a lot of changes again.......views and engagement still seem to be down and that is why I try to do so many posts / series to BOOST engagement.
It's OK to gather new ideas but if the same issues pop up, that is great too, because it will send the message that something is more important to the developers and Steemit Elders. My goal is again - use this blog post as a resource to help the dev's and the community members. I can combine them into one post later on if needed to help developers or members.
It is easily searchable also -- as I use the same key phrases / words etc. in the title to keep it searchable - more easily.
I was trying to pick good tags...... I decided to use the TIL or HOWTO tags -- hoping someone either looking FOR help on learning something -- or someone looking TO help on these things would comment! I thought about that one for a couple mins.
If you want to tag people or share it so others can comment and contribute also, that is great. I have my own ideas and see a lot of people talking about it, but as someone who is NOT - I REPEAT NOT! tech savvy like many of you, and who is relatively newer to the Blockchain and Crypto stuff, I know my role is limited to give ideas, I am just a Fat Minnow LOL.
But I have been an activist for years, I am used to building community and gathering info and trying to help so I guess you can blame the activist side of me for this idea which I think is a good one -- an INTENTIONAL POST on the idea, to gather stuff in one place and be easily searchable and findable for all the IT types and developers etc.
Just my way of trying to contribute. I did not even know for sure what tags to use in this post, and I actually spent 5 mins looking and researching the best ones in the past to try and use, before I posted this LOL. I will edit the tags ASAP if you give me better ones to use!!
Noobs can find the TIL or HowTo tags and nuggets here helpful, as I mentioned earlier here.
If we can get some good feedback going, we can use these ideas, all in one place and people can refer back to them. That's why E.1 / E.2 /E.3...4/5/6/7/8/9, etc etc - was in the title, I am hopeful it is helpful as a resource.
We must always head towards the path of Liberty. And help others on this path.

The spam on steemit is a joke.
I found one fix at least.

I think that there is a notification problem in Steemit which must be resolved.
Secondly, people should be notified when they are tagged in some other post.

Spread the word or resteem and reach more people!
Better search system. There is a lot of thngs that don't fit in given categories. Example: Music in Steemit tag
And also chat like Facebook has. Like something that easy to use from Steemit main page. That would probably kept me all day on Steemit :D
There should be substeemits like there are subreddits. It's hard to find relevant content. DIscord sometimes helps but it's a nightmare to try to find something relevant to your taste that you can read.

We need to have challenges and to give opportunities for minnows,give attention to the new feed to notice the good articles.support people and push them up to motivate them to steem on , according to me as a newbie i found many kind people who lift me up also many selfish people who didn't replies ti my comments and i got 128 the majority of them didnt even see my posts they dont use their feed , those people will break steemit back we shoulf get rid of them. Those make hard for minnows to get noticed . So my opinion is to enhance the feed and increase the sections like add section for creative minnows or make a tag especially for them which whales take a look at it , there are lots of great content that went unnoticed because of the publisher is not famous.
I really think a new or improved search function needs to be addressed. I use the search alot, and it has some spectacular content, some stuff thats helped me get to where I am at today, (even if its still only the beginning of my journey) but its a little bit cumbersome. It would be nice to when you search, not have the option to search from dates, because that way I think most people would only search new content and that would continue to worsen the 'posts disappearing, never to be seen again' syndrome, but to allow searchers access to more info on the what the post is before clicking on it, and not ranking posts by things like popularity of users. That way I think there will be less clicking based on headings and pictures?
I do see there are many challenges of a search feature and lots of this is probably alot harder than I may think it is... (I am also not a very techy guy... although I love learning) but heres to hoping right :)

Steemit Dev's are using this series it turns out -- to gather feedback and I prepared an email for them today, and 9 of the 13 blogs on the series here, and submitted it to them.
Search was high on my list of what users are asking for , myself included.
Details were sent to @timcliff who is a friendly dev. type who helps out here a lot.
No way thats awesome!!! way to go Barry. This is the stuff thats going to make this platform what its meant to be!
I would also add one more thing imo: a better ability to see who people are. I think we need more of a "profile" page where a few more personal touches or pics could be added if so wished by the user, just to better identify and maybe even 'jog' ones memory a tad as to whos who. I know alot of times I seem to remember people and friends in real life by more than just a name and job. I associate other many other things with people to help build that person to a bigger, longer lasting memory... maybe some similarities on steemit :)
That has also come up a lot over the months!
