Reputation. What is it?steemCreated with Sketch.

We all can see tiny numbers close to our name. But how it grows or, in the worst cases, fall?

Every time when you get an upvote from a person with bigger than yours reputation your reputation grows. The bigger the difference then you reputation grows faster. You can even get +2+3 for one upvote from a whale. Also, your reputation goes up then you get an upvote from a person with bigger SP, than yours.
What is why then you are newbie you grow so fast because practically all users around you from who you got upvotes already has bigger than your reputation

Would your reputation goes down if you get an upvote from a person with less than your reputation and SP? No, it wouldn't.

Your reputation goes down only if your post or comment has been flagged.
Common rules for flagging:

  1. Disagreement on rewards
  2. Fraud or plagiarism
  3. Hate speech or Internet trolling
  4. Intentional miscategorizing content or Spam

Also, you can read more about flagging in @timcliff post: https://steemit.com/flagging/@timcliff/flagging

So, I would recommend you to avoid a common newbie mistake to post something from the internet which is not yours - texts, pictures, videos, also don't do other common mistakes which could cause flagging and you will grow intentionally with posting our own posts, photos, thoughts and ideas.

You forget to mentions logs. Its logarthmic I understand.

You have 1000X my reputation, if you are 3 levels higher than me.

Which makes the folks with reputations of 74 or 75 very very rare.

STEEM On!!

I strongly agree about what you say man.
On the other hand even I see people vote on self-comments for a variety of reasons, some vote for themselves on the grounds that their comments are valuable, others vote on self-comments to make later comments go up on the first comment , Even though it was already someone else who commented.

Voting on self-comments tends to destroy the steemit media, because the interactions we build with others will be less. And the right to judge our comments, good or bad is someone else. In fact, we ourselves judge by voting on our own comments, which should be the rights of others. And we also can not judge ourselves if not others who do it.

how self-voting is relevant to my post?

It's what I have very little

don't worry about. Don't make fatal mistakes and you would grow naturally

And to think if it weren't for the yunk tag I would have never found this...

Very informative post on reputation. Rep generates a lot of questions that are asked by people new to the SteemIt community and it is great to have found a currently active blog describing this in more detail.

Old posts get lost in the mix and important info like this gets left behind making it hard for new users to find answers to their questions.

Up-Yunked!

We actually were planning a campaign and setting that up through general chat and on discord. A few of us were talking about making a "Voting 101", and other informational types of posts for new users to have more available access to.
@tecnosgirl made a post I believe two days ago or yesterday about voting, you should collaborate with us; the more minds the better.
@siragrays @yassine & @tecnosgirl I know are all working on some things right now as well as myself.

yeh, it would be nice if we could create sort of library with useful posts for newbie and minnows

I too found this because of the Yunk tag. I agree with with what you have said but I think new people do need to be mindful that their VP decreases with each vote and not to drain their VP too much at one time.

You rock @allfabeta I am gonna share this post in chat with my friends so we can pass along this good information.

:) Great @allfabeta I am sharing this post and linking it on my post of Votes campaign as a Yunk content vote.png

Nice post by the way
