On the other hand even I see people vote on self-comments for a variety of reasons, some vote for themselves on the grounds that their comments are valuable, others vote on self-comments to make later comments go up on the first comment , Even though it was already someone else who commented.

Voting on self-comments tends to destroy the steemit media, because the interactions we build with others will be less. And the right to judge our comments, good or bad is someone else.
