Is it just me or was that one of the most surreal, unique and best experiences of your entire life? Meeting such a collective gathering of talented, enthusiastic and intelligent individuals this weekend is something I will cherish forever. The only downside of the event was the depression felt knowing it was all going to come to an end. I’m sure many others can share my feelings as it was so professionally put together and the atmosphere was just so damn perfect! I still find it hard to believe that this all happened in a period of just two and a half days!

I have had the pleasure of meeting so many people from all walks of life. It didn’t matter where you came from, what ethnic background you originated from, how much money you had compared to others. Steemfest was a celebration of people connecting with each other regardless of race, colour or creed. The warm bond and happiness I felt with everyone at the event is something l’ll never ever forget. With all the amazing memories I acquired, it would be impossible to list them all unless I split this post into many parts, lol! So here are some of my personal highlights.

The Speeches

The introductions by @roelandp and @ned were very welcoming and beautifully executed. I particularly love that tulip suit and the cool story to go with it. @ned is clearly a visionary as we can see he believes whole-heartedly in the platform and is watching how the community is slowly evolving to where real, lasting friendships are being forged. Steemfest, I believe, is only just the beginning of many future Steem festivals to come (but what a beginning it is!).

The beautiful @heiditravels gave a heart-warming talk about her experiences as a Steemit globe trotter. How she sees crypto currency as a breakthrough technology to feed, clothe and sustain those in parts of the world where resources are very low. She has seen first-hand how those people live and to hear the stories from her standing right in front of me was very special indeed.

The incredible @allasyummyfood gave a wonderful presentation on how to create chocolate truffles! The consummate professional that she is, Alla explained everything expertly and the end result was mouth-wateringly delicious! The amount of YouTube and Twitter followers she has gained is testament to her success and popularity as a skilled chef. We thank you for your effort and contributions for us all. You truly are a gem.

The Entertainment

OK, now let’s see. We have the impeccable master DJ Kevin Wong, the gorgeous songstress Tatiana Moroz and a hall full of pumped-up Steemians ready to party hard! Alla would be proud with that set of ingredients, I’m sure she’d agree. The Tobacco theatre was thundering with bass and top tunes as tasty food and drink was served around the venue. We were all spoilt rotten courtesy of the Steemfest team and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it!

I also want to say a special congratulations to the Golden Steem Award winners. @burnin is a genius to think about implementing this novel idea and I hope it carries on into future Steem events. It gives all up-and-coming authors and artists the exposure they need and just adds nicely to the momentum of community building.

The farewell dinner was one of the most memorable recollections I have as not only were we treated to some really tasty gourmet-quality food but it was also the first group Steemian photo of everybody. Remember, we met so many different people at Steemfest so now at a glance we can see who is who and let the good memories come flooding back again!

Fellow Steemians

The Steemit community was by far the best part of this extraordinary experience. All of you are what made the whole event just work! Since writing all down all the great times I had is near impossible, these are my personal messages for all the great people I had the pleasure of meeting.

As is the general consensus, we all had a total blast and I cannot wait for the next Steemfest in 2017. The memories, the great times and the fun were things I had never experienced on this scale in my entire life. At least I have the excitement and anticipation of meeting up with all you guys all over again. Love you all!
