Hey Minnows! Here's a 150 Steem Giveaway to fund your way to Steemfest 3

in steemfest •  19 days ago

Dear Steemians,

I don't know what is happening lately but I got extremely lucky for the second time around! I just found out that I won a Steemfest ticket from the @scorum.community contest, and this news filled me with joy for 2 reasons:

  1. This is the second ticket I won, which means that I can give one away to another minnow: my husband @el-cr who was dying to come with me but couldn't afford it. We've been trying to raise funds by selling stuff in our house to make it happen for him too, but it wasn't looking so good until today! So congratulations @el-cr you are officially going with me.

  2. This also means that I can give back to the community by helping someone fund their trip to Krakow. Since I can't give the ticket so someone other than my better half (unless I want to end up single!), I can at least help with liquid Steem which I had been saving for my own trip.

I know what it means to struggle financially, especially for those who are living far away.

Therefore, I would like to donate the 100 Steem that I received from our generous friend @pharesim, plus an additional 50 Steem to someone who is definitely going (meaning who already has their ticket) but needs help funding their trip to Steemfest 3.

If that person is you, please simply comment below how you will use those 150 Steem, and about how much it will cost you to travel from your home country to Krakow. I will choose the winner in the coming days.

There are no rules, other than being a Minnow and struggling with your finances ATM.

Good luck =)

Wow, this is really generous of you @evecab! And how 'WOW' that you've won twice! Once would be cool for me LOL. I will be bringing my kids to Poland with me (however they will not be at Steemfest) because I really have no one to mind them for me here, nor would I want to leave them for 6 days. So the trip in itself is a bit pricey for me. I've made up my mind that I HAVE to go, as it is the only thing I am doing for me (and hopefully also others, and in the end also my family) since last Steemfest. Like so many others I am struggling financially, as Steemit is pretty much my main source of income at the moment. This makes me extra grateful to have found this amazing platform when I did last year! Luckily for me, I have a few Steemian friends here who've been supporting me and one day, I hope to be able to pay it forward, as it means the world to me to know so many people who care. I am not too far from Poland, 'only' in Ireland, but I will have to book those flights soon as the price will soon rise. Thank you again for this opportunity and to everyone else: good luck and see you in Poland!

·

Oh I think @misslasvegas would be an excellent choice for the money. She's a really cool Steemian and I personally think she's brought a lot to the community in this past year. Besides, I love her determination about going to Steemfest.
Good luck! <3

·
·

Awe, thank you @honeydue! <3

Hi @evecab congratulations on your luck and achievements. I guess your husband is lucky too!

I'm happy to have stumbled on this post, I'm not able to go for Steemfest but I do have a friend in the person of @lordjames somewhere in Nigeria, Africa who is currently struggling to see himself at Steemfest.

From his discussions on Discord, he has got his ticket and his Visa Will be ready by this weekend. All that is left and weighing on him is to cover the cost of a flight to Poland.

I will do well to relate this post to him so that he can speak for himself and I pray he gets the needed help.

thanks for the referral =)

oh lawd, this would help me so much. My hubs and I are flying all the way from SOUTH AFRICA 😱the tickets are about $900 each. This is coming out of our fiat savings, which, trust me, is not a lot.

The price of the tickets is almost half my sbd. Yes, I have sbd to spend.. it has taken me an entire year of posting every day to earn these funds, and.... I live in south africa, these funds are my escape plan for when we become the next venezuela. (she jokes, a wry smile crossing her face).

We'd be coming with our funny money too. Our currency is currently R15 to USD$1, we'd like to eat at Steemfest too, we hear there is a breakfast on Sunday? Going to have to make a big plate there. I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

I love and believe in steemit so much, and want to come to steemfest to meet others who feel the same about the platform, and want to spread the news too.

Pick me, pick me 💜

This is really generous of you, @evecab! Congratulations on winning the two tickets. I was just reading the @scorum.community and I was glad 'cause I knew you wanted to go! Good on you ;)

I look forward to meeting you at Steemfest. Now here's the thing (since you asked) I'm actually flying to Warsaw, since there are no flights to Krakow directly availble and the plane tickets are about 50 bucks. That's no biggie, but from what I see on the Polish train websites, the train between Warsaw and Krakow (and back) will take me up another 80-100 bucks...so yeah, I am struggling with my finances ATM.

But at the same time, I know there are a lot of people who are also struggling, so maybe the money would be better off with them. I don't really know, but I figured I'd try. Might I also recommend @celestal for the money? He's hitchhiking down there from what I know and that's pretty cool and I'm sure he needs it. :)

Anyway, thanks for the opportunity and congrats again! See ya!

·

Thanks @honeydue =) Which country are you traveling from? Wow, I had no idea trains were so expensive in Poland!

I look forward to meeting you in Krakow no matter what, and thanks also for referring Celestal!

·
·

Coming from Romania and yeah, I didn't know about those trains either. i mean some are alright, but some are pretty high up...weird :l

·

weird, I thought about flying into germany and I think I saw a ticket from Berlin to Krakow for about 10 euros! I could be totally wrong though. Hmm I'll go look that up again. If I found that, maybe I could help you find another cheaper train ticket.

oh and where are you coming from? Do you have car share apps? I used that once to get from East Germany to Prague and it was about 20 euros and a pretty interesting ride lol.

I don't know. Just trying to think of creative ways to get transportation. I've heard it's safe to hitchike in some places in Europe...I wonder if Poland is one of those places lol. OR maybe some steemians are driving from warsaw to krakow or something and have extra space in their car! You sound like you're SO close!

·
·

I meant I didn't find flights (not sure if just decent price or at all) from Bucharest to Krakow, not in general ;)
Yeah, I have thought about catching up with some other Steemians if there are any going from Warsaw to Krakow, so that's definitely a good idea.
Thank you for your help, @nomadicsoul ❤️🤗 I'm definitely going and I look forward to meeting you in Krakow!

You're in Bucharest??? I'm in Bucharest!

vlog coming today.

I am struggling enough that I won't be able to make the trip even with a generous donation of 150 STEEM.

That being said, I think it was @celestal that was headed in that direction with a bike and a tent, and blogging the whole way?

I am starting to get some people confused as I follow so many good people but he would have my vote if I have it right.

Very generous!

·

thanks for the referral @zekepickleman, wow I would love to hear the story of @celestal!

@evecab congrats on the win! Very cool to see both of you coming to Steemfest, looking forward to meet you.

Not applying myself for the Steem, but would like to step forward to apply for @mrprofessor. Arthur is doing a lot for Steemit (started Cyclefeed, translation for Utopian, curation for Travelfeed and so on) and he joined multiple contests to get a ticket for Steemfest but had no luck... persistence pays off they say 🙃

I would really love to attend the steemfest at Poland but the issue is that I have classes to attend in school. I am 4th year undergraduate who is finding it hard to pay fees and my examination is around the corner. If I got that 150 steem, it would go a long way in salvaging my career.

I would be really grateful to you forever as I have lost my mom who was my sole sponsor.

The good thing is that if my career is being saved, I could always attend many other SteemFest while sponsoring others too.

Super excited for the person that wins it. 👍🏻

Wooow! Another awesome news :)) You got lucky lately indeed! :) It is also very nice of you that you want to help other minnows through this giveaway :) So @evecab and @el-cr going to Poland together - this is what I call happyending :))) So happy for you guys!

·

ahahaha thank you Peter!!!! =)

Great contest, very generous of you. If I won I would use the prize to fund my plane tickets. I'm not that far from Poland - I live in England - but it would alleviate some money worries. I need to go as I am down to be a speaker, discussing @thewritersblock and our various projects.

hey @gmuxx, nice meeting you =)Do you already have your ticket?

·
·

Hi, nice to meet you too! I am buying @theuxyeti's ticket from him as unfortunately work commitments prevent his attendance.

Oh wow, two people have referred me! Thanks @honeydue and @zekepickleman! I guess I have to step in myself.

Ok, so I actually have some money but my aim is to live quite conservative, because that also gives me more freedom on long term - and that will involve hitchhiking to Krakow. While I technically could cycle over there, I think I will take a break from that, since I'm currently on a tour, though I'm coming towards back home now to get ready for Steemfest.

There's also the weird thing with Finnish crypto regulations and I really don't know how to deal with the taxes or if it's even needed with "donations", uggh. So the Steem wouldn't directly finance my trip, but it would help long-term by enabling me to power up more Steem and give more support for the good people here. (So, I'm going to hitchhike in any case.)

It's bit funny should @honeydue think of me needing the Steem, because I'm thinking exactly the same of her, because I know how much little money can be for a Romanian in contrast to a Finn.

Oh, and regardless of who you end up giving the Steem, thanks for giving back to the community, I highly appreciate your gesture @evecab!

·

Well, you have a point about the money, @celestal - from what I've heard, Finland is way more expensive than Romania, so yeah, obviously we view the same amount differently ;)
I didn't refer you necessarily because I thought you must be struggling, it's not up to me to know that, is it? But I figured you're a cool guy, you're doing something different (as opposed to most kids our age) and that should be encouraged in any way. ;)

Anyhow, see ya in Poland :D

·
·

I didn't refer you necessarily because I thought you must be struggling, it's not up to me to know that, is it?

Yeah, we're bunch of Internet people so we don't have to and can't know each other's finances (unless explicitly telling about them).

But I figured you're a cool guy, you're doing something different (as opposed to most kids our age) and that should be encouraged in any way. ;)

That's really nice of you, thank you :)

Anyhow, see ya in Poland :D

In Poland we see!

That's absolutely mindblowing @evecab! You must have done something right since Karma is loving you big time! I honestly do have a lot of worries financially but I come from Europe so I actually didn't even dare applying for most of the contests since I know so many come from further away.

I'm going to share your link to 2 Steemians I know are in much need of some financial assistance and hope they can enjoy a bit of your luck <3 Cheers and see you in November :D

·

hey Rosa, it's very nice of you to put others before yourself! You can still also apply though =) no harm in that! =) see you soon!

·
·

:D Thanks for that. But I've reached the point where talking about the lack of money is more of a trigger than the lack of money itself. I'll make it work. You have a lot of worthy entries and I'm crossing my fingers to see an entry of @princessmewmew who comes from an economy that is basically following a downwards spiral and wants (needs!) to come with her husband as well.

Congrats dear, and thanks for giving back. Hopefully I'll have enough money by the next steemfest to attend

Heyho @evecab, nice to meet you! So cool you managed to get it, I was following your struggle as I also received 100 Steem from @pharesim (which makes me really uncomfortable)

Same as you here, I'm trying to sell some stuff to make my way from Brazil to Europe, where I'll start a big bicycle adventure just after the SteemFest.

Hopefully this week I'll be able to buy a one way plane ticket with the savings from my previous job as a teacher, no tickets for SF yet, but adventure is my name hahahahaha

See you there and lots of positive vibrations for you!

Sure. Your awesome. First, I apologize for my English isn't perfect. I'm from Mexico, exactly Tijuana, Baja California. And what I want to do with the prize is to get a bunch of literature magazine from Mexican independent writers and then choose the best ones to make a workshop and inspire people to write as always or in steemit.

Have a good one

It's amazing what you do! <3 I also think that we have to share what is good. You are a wonderful person and it's no coincidence that you were lucky and won not only 2 tickets but also extra funds. I would like to go to SF3 but unfortunately in this year it will not be possible. I hope to be able to do it next time. Then I would love to get to know you in real life. :)

·

Thank you so much @see-it-feel-it ! It's a shame I won't be able to meet you this time around, but I sure as hell plan on it next year then =)

Loading...

I would really like to underline @mrprofessor application. He would be traveling from Brazil, just trying to scrape the founds to make it to Europe. Beyond that he will be traveling with his bike and trying make it one way or the other (pasta and canned tuna for 90 days).

Please look into what he's being doing for the community and if he doesn't make it to SF he would be truly missed!

What?!! How awesome is that! Happy for both of you to be able to get to go, and even more awesome of you to help some other person out, too!

Congrats on winning the free tickets and bonus Steem! Great to see you helping other minnows to fund their trip. We shall see you at Krakow!
((resteemed))

That 150 STEEM would help a lot, an airplane trip from Portugal to Krakow is a little bit expensive, but I found a way to reduce the price in half, by spending more four hours. Which means that now it costs me 178€ (flying with Ryanair) or 223€ (flying with TAP). I haven't decided yet, but I think the cheapest the better, so not much choice available.

If I got those 150 STEEM, my flying costs would be covered and I would only have to worry at how am I going to survive there for a few days. Hopefully I will have enough...
Considering that I don't have much knowledge about the country, I'm pointing to stay on an hotel, but the prices are also not looking great, the cheapest that I found was 200€ for the 5 days.

·

hey @diagosantos do you have your steemfest ticket already?

Super generous of you!
Hopefully this can help someone!!

Hey @evecab! I made a promotional/attendence video for you contest! You can check the video here: https://steemit.com/ddaily/@artakush/8ybs9dt5

Hahaha!!! What would have happened if you gave the ticket to someone else leaving your better half ?🤣. #JustSaying

I'm Solomon, I reside in Lagos Nigeria). Yeah I'm one of your commenters staying very far from Poland 😌.
It's expensive flying to Poland from my end .

It'd be really nice and I'd appreciate it if I'm partly sponsored to see the Steemfest live 💚

very kind of you to help someone get there as well👍 i look forward to seeing all of the posts about it :)

Hello @evecab, I wish 150 steem can take me to Poland but it can't so I will rather use it for a project I have been struggling to do..
I'm an earthcleaner, I love to clean the environment as it limit pollution and preserve the environment, its an initiative of cleanplanet but it's been part of me and what I do mostly but few weeks ago I came across this public dump on the main road that I can't clean alone as I will need help and truck to pack it, so I tired raising fund on fundition but didn't succeed, I didn't let that stop me, I try to find volunteers also but it's hard to find... It will cost 100 steem to clean the place and if I should win this steem that's what I will use it to do.... As the environment is smelly and a school is close by, I will really appreciate it.
This a video I made of the place.

The plan is to clean the place and donate public bin to the nearby schools. This will aid in limiting the way they dump refuge improperly.

·

Hi @peachyladiva, I like your project, and think it's great what you're trying to do! I'm 100% behind environmental projects. Unfortunately for this particular giveaway it has to be for steemfest only. I hope you keep trying fundition, I think it's the best way to raise money for something like that.

·
·

Alright thanks alot

Thanks @akomoyoung for the mention and recommendation. This is a great initiative @evecab, congratulations on the tickets.

I'm planning to attend Steemfest from Nigeria. I have received supports for the events so far but visa procedures to Poland here isn't that easy. So I have to apply for schenghen visa on grounds of tourism to Italy. Thus I'll have to fly from Africa to Italy first, spent two days in Milan before moving over to Krakow for Steemfest. That's an expensive journey and I'll appreciate any support I receive.

I hope to see you go Krakow, thank you.

·

hey @lordjames, that sounds complicated indeed! So when will you know if your visa is approved?

·
·

This weekend. It's not that complicated. I would still have to stop over in France or Italy if I was flying direct to Poland.

·
·
·

ok great, I'm crossing fingers t will be approved =)

·
·
·
·

Hello @evecab, please you can give the tokens to someone else. I got a negative response from my visa application. I guess I'll see you next year. Thank you.

·
·
·
·
·

oh I'm so sorry to hear that @lordjames =(

BIG congrats on the Steemfest ticket!!! Can’t wait to meet you there.

I just love your heart and that you’ve decided to run such a generous giveaway. ♥️

Re-steeming!

·

Thanks girl, congrats again to you too =)! I wish I could give more... have been feeling a bit guilty of winning twice, but at the same time I hope I can help someone a little. Can't wait to meet you as well =)

·
·

Don't feel guilty for winning twice! It just means you deserve it and whatever you did to win, I'm sure you did a good job at it! Like maybe you had to write something and you wrote really well! Well, now you're getting rewarded for your talent!

But I understand, I get guilty about stuff like that too!!

I think it's awesome bc now you get to go with your husband!

The world will be far much a better place with more Hearts like yours. Your husband has got a rare gem in you.

Keep up the love.

·

Thanks @emjoe that’s nice of you to say !!!
