Hey Minnows! Here's a 150 Steem Giveaway to fund your way to Steemfest 3

in #steemfest5 years ago (edited)

Dear Steemians,

I don't know what is happening lately but I got extremely lucky for the second time around! I just found out that I won a Steemfest ticket from the @scorum.community contest, and this news filled me with joy for 2 reasons:

  1. This is the second ticket I won, which means that I can give one away to another minnow: my husband @el-cr who was dying to come with me but couldn't afford it. We've been trying to raise funds by selling stuff in our house to make it happen for him too, but it wasn't looking so good until today! So congratulations @el-cr you are officially going with me.

  2. This also means that I can give back to the community by helping someone fund their trip to Krakow. Since I can't give the ticket so someone other than my better half (unless I want to end up single!), I can at least help with liquid Steem which I had been saving for my own trip.

I know what it means to struggle financially, especially for those who are living far away.

Therefore, I would like to donate the 100 Steem that I received from our generous friend @pharesim, plus an additional 50 Steem to someone who is definitely going (meaning who already has their ticket) but needs help funding their trip to Steemfest 3.

If that person is you, please simply comment below how you will use those 150 Steem, and about how much it will cost you to travel from your home country to Krakow. I will choose the winner in the coming days.

There are no rules, other than being a Minnow and struggling with your finances ATM.

Good luck =)

Wow, this is really generous of you @evecab! And how 'WOW' that you've won twice! Once would be cool for me LOL. I will be bringing my kids to Poland with me (however they will not be at Steemfest) because I really have no one to mind them for me here, nor would I want to leave them for 6 days. So the trip in itself is a bit pricey for me. I've made up my mind that I HAVE to go, as it is the only thing I am doing for me (and hopefully also others, and in the end also my family) since last Steemfest. Like so many others I am struggling financially, as Steemit is pretty much my main source of income at the moment. This makes me extra grateful to have found this amazing platform when I did last year! Luckily for me, I have a few Steemian friends here who've been supporting me and one day, I hope to be able to pay it forward, as it means the world to me to know so many people who care. I am not too far from Poland, 'only' in Ireland, but I will have to book those flights soon as the price will soon rise. Thank you again for this opportunity and to everyone else: good luck and see you in Poland!

Oh I think @misslasvegas would be an excellent choice for the money. She's a really cool Steemian and I personally think she's brought a lot to the community in this past year. Besides, I love her determination about going to Steemfest.
Good luck! <3

Awe, thank you @honeydue! <3

Hi @evecab congratulations on your luck and achievements. I guess your husband is lucky too!

I'm happy to have stumbled on this post, I'm not able to go for Steemfest but I do have a friend in the person of @lordjames somewhere in Nigeria, Africa who is currently struggling to see himself at Steemfest.

From his discussions on Discord, he has got his ticket and his Visa Will be ready by this weekend. All that is left and weighing on him is to cover the cost of a flight to Poland.

I will do well to relate this post to him so that he can speak for himself and I pray he gets the needed help.

thanks for the referral =)

oh lawd, this would help me so much. My hubs and I are flying all the way from SOUTH AFRICA 😱the tickets are about $900 each. This is coming out of our fiat savings, which, trust me, is not a lot.

The price of the tickets is almost half my sbd. Yes, I have sbd to spend.. it has taken me an entire year of posting every day to earn these funds, and.... I live in south africa, these funds are my escape plan for when we become the next venezuela. (she jokes, a wry smile crossing her face).

We'd be coming with our funny money too. Our currency is currently R15 to USD$1, we'd like to eat at Steemfest too, we hear there is a breakfast on Sunday? Going to have to make a big plate there. I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

I love and believe in steemit so much, and want to come to steemfest to meet others who feel the same about the platform, and want to spread the news too.

Pick me, pick me 💜

This is really generous of you, @evecab! Congratulations on winning the two tickets. I was just reading the @scorum.community and I was glad 'cause I knew you wanted to go! Good on you ;)

I look forward to meeting you at Steemfest. Now here's the thing (since you asked) I'm actually flying to Warsaw, since there are no flights to Krakow directly availble and the plane tickets are about 50 bucks. That's no biggie, but from what I see on the Polish train websites, the train between Warsaw and Krakow (and back) will take me up another 80-100 bucks...so yeah, I am struggling with my finances ATM.

But at the same time, I know there are a lot of people who are also struggling, so maybe the money would be better off with them. I don't really know, but I figured I'd try. Might I also recommend @celestal for the money? He's hitchhiking down there from what I know and that's pretty cool and I'm sure he needs it. :)

Anyway, thanks for the opportunity and congrats again! See ya!

Thanks @honeydue =) Which country are you traveling from? Wow, I had no idea trains were so expensive in Poland!

I look forward to meeting you in Krakow no matter what, and thanks also for referring Celestal!

Coming from Romania and yeah, I didn't know about those trains either. i mean some are alright, but some are pretty high up...weird :l

weird, I thought about flying into germany and I think I saw a ticket from Berlin to Krakow for about 10 euros! I could be totally wrong though. Hmm I'll go look that up again. If I found that, maybe I could help you find another cheaper train ticket.

oh and where are you coming from? Do you have car share apps? I used that once to get from East Germany to Prague and it was about 20 euros and a pretty interesting ride lol.

I don't know. Just trying to think of creative ways to get transportation. I've heard it's safe to hitchike in some places in Europe...I wonder if Poland is one of those places lol. OR maybe some steemians are driving from warsaw to krakow or something and have extra space in their car! You sound like you're SO close!

I meant I didn't find flights (not sure if just decent price or at all) from Bucharest to Krakow, not in general ;)
Yeah, I have thought about catching up with some other Steemians if there are any going from Warsaw to Krakow, so that's definitely a good idea.
Thank you for your help, @nomadicsoul ❤️🤗 I'm definitely going and I look forward to meeting you in Krakow!

You're in Bucharest??? I'm in Bucharest!

How cool! How long are you here for?

At least another week. Are you on Discord? Message me there. daveonarrival#6137

Steem brings people together :D @honeydue @daveonarrival

vlog coming today.

I am struggling enough that I won't be able to make the trip even with a generous donation of 150 STEEM.

That being said, I think it was @celestal that was headed in that direction with a bike and a tent, and blogging the whole way?

I am starting to get some people confused as I follow so many good people but he would have my vote if I have it right.

Very generous!

thanks for the referral @zekepickleman, wow I would love to hear the story of @celestal!

@evecab congrats on the win! Very cool to see both of you coming to Steemfest, looking forward to meet you.

Not applying myself for the Steem, but would like to step forward to apply for @mrprofessor. Arthur is doing a lot for Steemit (started Cyclefeed, translation for Utopian, curation for Travelfeed and so on) and he joined multiple contests to get a ticket for Steemfest but had no luck... persistence pays off they say 🙃

I would really love to attend the steemfest at Poland but the issue is that I have classes to attend in school. I am 4th year undergraduate who is finding it hard to pay fees and my examination is around the corner. If I got that 150 steem, it would go a long way in salvaging my career.

I would be really grateful to you forever as I have lost my mom who was my sole sponsor.

The good thing is that if my career is being saved, I could always attend many other SteemFest while sponsoring others too.

Hello @evecab, I wish 150 steem can take me to Poland but it can't so I will rather use it for a project I have been struggling to do..
I'm an earthcleaner, I love to clean the environment as it limit pollution and preserve the environment, its an initiative of cleanplanet but it's been part of me and what I do mostly but few weeks ago I came across this public dump on the main road that I can't clean alone as I will need help and truck to pack it, so I tired raising fund on fundition but didn't succeed, I didn't let that stop me, I try to find volunteers also but it's hard to find... It will cost 100 steem to clean the place and if I should win this steem that's what I will use it to do.... As the environment is smelly and a school is close by, I will really appreciate it.
This a video I made of the place.

The plan is to clean the place and donate public bin to the nearby schools. This will aid in limiting the way they dump refuge improperly.

Hi @peachyladiva, I like your project, and think it's great what you're trying to do! I'm 100% behind environmental projects. Unfortunately for this particular giveaway it has to be for steemfest only. I hope you keep trying fundition, I think it's the best way to raise money for something like that.

Alright thanks alot

That 150 STEEM would help a lot, an airplane trip from Portugal to Krakow is a little bit expensive, but I found a way to reduce the price in half, by spending more four hours. Which means that now it costs me 178€ (flying with Ryanair) or 223€ (flying with TAP). I haven't decided yet, but I think the cheapest the better, so not much choice available.

If I got those 150 STEEM, my flying costs would be covered and I would only have to worry at how am I going to survive there for a few days. Hopefully I will have enough...
Considering that I don't have much knowledge about the country, I'm pointing to stay on an hotel, but the prices are also not looking great, the cheapest that I found was 200€ for the 5 days.

hey @diagosantos do you have your steemfest ticket already?

very kind of you to help someone get there as well👍 i look forward to seeing all of the posts about it :)
