100 DAYS OF STEEM : Day 92 - Community Curators 2.0

in #steem4 years ago (edited)

steemit-logo.png

The Community Curators was one of the earliest projects to come out of the 100 Days of Steem.

For three months a dozen or so different groups and individuals have been given the keys to 200K and 500K SP curation accounts to support creators in and around their particular communities.

While the system has not been perfect it has provided a significant community delivered manual curation resource to support creators across a broad spread of the blockchain.

We consider the Community Curators to be a success.

As the 100 Days of Steem draws to a close we are happy to announce that the Community Curators will be continuing. It will though be taking a slightly different direction.

Community Curators 2.0

There is a definite keenness to continue the Community Curators but the project is going to be remodelled to reflect feedback from Community Curators and to reflect our wider ideas for Steem.

The major change is that Curator accounts will now be offered to the community on a topic and geographical basis.

For topics there will initially be two Curator accounts available…

  • Music
  • Art and Crafts

For the geographical based accounts they will be offered on a continental basis…

  • Africa
  • Asia
  • North America
  • South America
  • Europe

Australia/Oceania will be added later when sufficient demand has built up.

For the time being the two 500K SP accounts will be used for the two most Steem popular continents of Asia and South America. The others will have the 200K SP accounts.

These team curator accounts will only be allowed to vote on content in their topic area or by creators residing in their continent.

The accounts will now be awarded for two months at a time rather than one.

Team Applications

Going forward the Community Curator accounts will only be awarded to Teams and not individuals.

We will therefore be encouraging groups of individuals to come together to form teams as well as existing projects.

The teams should consist of 7 people.

Those individuals should have sufficient experience on Steem, they should not be actively promoting other similar blockchains, and in the case of the continental curation accounts they should reside in the relevant continent.

The teams should look to have a good spread of languages and countries among their members. This will be particularly important for the continent teams.

If appropriate teams do not naturally come forward we will be making suggestions of individuals who we think would make up good teams.

Rewards

There will be at least three reward mechanisms for the Community Curator teams…

  • Each account will be free to use one full vote per day to vote up the team members, ideally on rotation.

  • The teams will be encouraged to post progress updates which will be upvoted by the 3M SP @steemcurator01 account (although not necessarily at 100%).

  • Teams will have preferential access to a new Recruitment and Retention Reward scheme that will be announced shortly.

We may be adding other rewards that will be announced separately.

How to Apply

Applications can be made on an individual’s account, or on a suitably named team account.

Application posts should give details of...

  • The continent or subject area they would like to curate
  • A list of the seven people who will make up your team
  • The experience and background on Steem of each team member
  • The languages and country of residence of each team member
  • A ‘mission statement’ of how the team will help Steem grow in the subject area or continent they are targeting

Please post a link to your application post in the comments below.

Applications should be made by July 21st.

Those selected will be given the posting key to the curation account on August 1st to use until the end of that month.

Please note…

  • Previous applicants, successful or unsuccessful, are welcome to reapply.
  • Applications can be made in any language.

  • Individuals can only be in one team.

We are very keen to explore how the Community Curators can be utilized to help grow Steem in specific geographical areas and specific topics.

As always we will be monitoring this new version of the Community Curators closely and adjusting as needed.

We look forward to receiving your applications.

Thank you

POLITE REQUEST...

As you will have noticed the comments are getting a bit 'crowded' on the 100 Days of Steem posts.

This makes it difficult for us to deal with all the comments, and particularly to spot those comments most relevant to the daily post.

Please therefore do not post links to your latest Diary Game posts - we find them through the #thediarygame tag (make sure you include that spelt correctly as one your first five tags).

Only drop links to diary posts if we have not voted on them by Day 6, or if it is your first post.

Please also do not include links or screenshots to Twitter or other social media - they should be in comments on the diary post itself.

Thank you

Hello @steemcurator01 my first weekly report As Steem Greeter HERE please have a look at this.
Ps- steem greeter team will have to make an application to carry on the pod project with curator03 account?

Thank you for this report - very useful.

We will be announcing a new system for the members of the STEEM POD and the Steem Greeters on Monday or Tuesday.

There will be higher levels of delegation available.

The Steemit Team

Thank you for responding! We are Eagerly waiting for the announcement from @steemitblog @steemcurator01! Much appreciated!

This is a better approach for community curators. A good strategy for more fair reward distribution.

Glad you like the idea. Hope you will want to be in an Asia team.

yes would love to be in Asia team 😊 hey Asian steemian lets team up

This is a better strategy for community curators. It will also improve reward distribution. My application post: https://steemit.com/hive-184373/@shortsegments/application-for-community-curator-team-arts-and-crafts

Upvoted for visibility.

Hi @steemitblog

You are writing: For topics there will initially be two Curator accounts available…

- Music
- Art and Crafts

Is,nt it @steemcurator08 with @stef for art or another one?

And second question

I wrote about one idea but you did,nt answer. I dare to write again:

I would like to propose you the idea of an even simpler idea how to attract a large number of participants. This game is called "Photo of the Day"
I will explain briefly the essence of the idea. It is not new, but it makes sense to use it.
Any participant posts in the anchor post any any number of new photos just taken on any topic, any camera or smartphone.
At the end of the day, as a result of a plebiscite, the winner is determined who receives your 100% upvote.
Believe me, the hype will be huge!
Interesting advertising slogans for other networks are possible:

"$ 100 for one photo!"
"Every day $ 100"

I could take up the organization

Hi @mister-omortson, from August the plan is to get two groups of 7 curators for each of topic Music and Art&Craft, who will be upvoting each of them for one day.

I wish you good luck with you idea!

What about you in group?

No, I will not be, read my message bellow. But if you would like I think you will be a good part of the team for curation.

Changing the structure of community Curators is probably something that needed to be done but the way how to do it this was an remains something that needs to be more looked into.

Currently the Curators are supporting people around with for example us @steemcurators08. During the period of time like last two month we have curated manually and brought to @steemcurator08 account 5,057.539 STEEM during May and June

As Curators we have not earned much, because only our weekly reports are rewarded, so it is 8 times during 4 months and also last two times with 21% of @steemcurator01, only once highest reward was 34% that is 33.98$

At the end we earned 5,057.539 STEEM for Steemit Inc and being rewarded appr. 500 Steem for two month of manually curation.
Luckily we are on Steem for long time and have many friends, we are active, engaging with many communities and that is how we reached what we reached and we do not really need self-upvote

Now having 7 curatorsin one Community Curator Team, you are saying the curators can give themselves once a day 100% upvote, normally once account after giving 7x100% upvote have only 3 people who they can give 100% or the people who will be curated will receive much less upvote because the curators will get it first, but the content creator will see it and also will not be happy, because curators voting curators.

In our opinion, if Curators will get direct delegation, then they would earn by Upvoting, they will be more encouraged to upvote many people because then for example they will earn:
5,057.539 STEEM without selfupvote and even without @steemcurator01 Upvote

Now we have developed a good running community with support of @worldofxpilar trial and @steemcurator08, many Artists from all over the world now posting from this community and with announcing a new changed system of curating the community will be fallen apart, but who we are just simple user who express our opinion.

By the way we have issued our weekly report for last 7 days:
