A Dolphin to a Minnow in 1 Month. Do you still believe in Steemit at these prices?

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

Yes, I absolutely do! As a Dolphin on this platform, I think the long term prospects are great. However, in the short term it doesn't feel like it. See, I've had a similar experience with Bitshares. At one point my Bitshares holding was worth about $30K, I held thinking it would go much higher. My Steem account was valued at $28K a month or so ago and now it is much much lower.

As an investor, I should have been prudent and taken some profits off the table. I didn't and I can live with that decision. I'll continue to hold my Steem Power with the hopes of earning more over time. I know this is a gamble, but I completely accept the risk.

I understand everyone may not be comfortable with the approach that I've taken. Each person must evaluate the personal circumstance and act accordingly.

For me, I'm full Steem ahead!

Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

well, if the price keeps going down and actually crashes and this whole thing collapses, then I'm at a loss as well, the $3k I invested is now only worth $2k ....

but ... here's the but; looking at my position within steemit, as in; looking at steem power and not the value of steem dollars ... I'm going up!

so, that's why it's rather easy for me to simply ignore the price ... I'm in it for the long run, which is why all I care about is the % of the total my steem power represents ... as long that's going up; I'm winning

this while it's obvious what's going on; steemit itself is selling en masse, because that's what they learned from bitshares; first things first; fund yourself, have enough savings to pay the developers for the next 6 months etc

not sure how much more they need, but at some point they'll have enough, that's when they'll stop selling and by then the price will go up again

it's not like everybody else is fleeing, that's not why the price goes down, it's because the company behind steemit needs enough cash to keep working on it ... big difference!

As long as Steem Dollar peg holds we don't have to worry about a thing. Steem 10 cents no problem, as long as steem dollar holds around 1usd.

if you really believe in steemit, you should invest more as long as the price is low. that's what I did with bitcoins between 100 and 200 $, and so far it's not so bad.

sensible and meaningful solution
thoughts are presented clearly and understandably
but the reason for the price drop?
that many whales are selling their wealth and want to profit now, not later.
and to them all the same that will be afterwards .

We need a fairer voting system!
it's minimum.

How would you go about creating a fairer voting system?

We need a stronger support for minnow
It is a complex issue and it should be discussed

what about selecting the 5.000-10.000 users that have been rather active the last 1-2-3 months, but got nothing in return and give them each 100 steem power ... do you think that would help?

I think the idea merits discussion :)
if it is about SP

ok, but ... would it motivate you to post and vote more? would it work for you?

for greater motivation necessary to reconsider the award for Upvoting for minnows, what I wrote above.
rewards increase in 10 times - as an option.
it is a direct dependence of motivation.
and yes, this is me as a minnow will motivate.
but it needs to be discussed and more to think about this.

or make a minimum voice - 1 cent.
because the rounding to the thousandths it's overkill.

English is not my native, but I hope I am writing so that understand me :)

I would Invest a little
Enough to keep the steem on

I am going to invest on steemit as long as my posts are appreciated. Also steem is going really going down, I would recommend to buy more steem. I think steem have bright future(Up and downs are different matter ). :)

I'd like to hear from @dan and @ned. Maybe the next milestone will stop the decline.

I hope for it :)

Probably wont, inflation rate is just too high.
Only way to protect against that is powering up and contributing with content and curation.

You may have already answered my question. But, what can help to increase the value? Is it mainly contributing with content and curation? I'm an utterly noobish minnow, less than twelve hours in. So any advice at this point is worth considering.

Vote, Comment and Follow just because I have never seen a Dolphin before!

We are not really that rare. We swim and eat just like minnows.

I started buying again at $1. I'll be buying more when this drops lower. I am completely confident in Steem and its long term potential. Steemit is only the beginning...

Is there any reason for your confidence beyond information that is widely known?

I think people underestimate what Steem is actually capable of. They see Steemit and think that's all there is. They're missing out on the bigger picture here.

For example, @picokernel built http://squeek.io - a Twitter-like site that runs on Steem. We can build out Steem into practically anything. Why not have all sorts of platforms, even ones already established, that integrate the voting mechanics and push value to content creators? It's possible, and getting built as we speak :)

We will see Steem-based comments sections in news articles, maybe even news, sports, and entertainment sites themselves. They can plug in the mechanics, keep their content separate from Steemit, if they desire, while still employing the voting mechanisms that distribute Steem rewards.

Can you imagine an Internet-wide Steem user ID? The implications of this would be astounding. The fact it works, has the throughput to handle the transactions, along with no fees on the blockchain, make this a much more likely than not reality in the future. Sure, Steem is exposed to the rigors of the crypto market, but we're used to this, pump and dumps happen all the time. I'm not looking at the price, I'm looking at the tech, and it's potential is jaw dropping.

I recently had a talk with a couple educators about building out a Steem-based education model. We have pretty big things planned, and will have another Hangout up later this week, so follow me if you're not and check that out, because it will be some fun stuff:

Thanks for the update. I'm following you now and will stay abreast of your project. If you don't mine, would follow me in return?

I've been following you bro! XD

I like your optimism!

Papa, what is your view on this?

Since the only thing I have invested in Steemit is my time and not any money, it's not like I've really lost anything. I haven't really made that much, but it has still been more than many people have. So far I've made about $3,000 steem dollars in five weeks, got a reputation of 65, and wound up with 272 followers, so hopefully it can continue to be beneficial.

In those five weeks I've only worked my other job about half the time and if Steem prices rise it would be nice to do steemit full time.

Also, my "net worth" has never been much over $4000 total and my upvotes are only worth a cent. It seems that many have much more influence, but I am glad to play whatever roll I can in this community.
