After HF21 what?

in #steem5 years ago

Hello dear readers, welcome!

The post that I share with you today is an opinion piece, where I will tell you about my experience after HF21, and I hope to know your wonderful experience in this fascinating journey in the steem chain.

Source

Today, when we are only three months after the last fork was applied to the blockchain steem, it is worth remembering the tension we experienced in those days prior to the application of these changes, it is necessary to remember the number of publications that were to explain the changes that were about to occur and that showed skepticism, fears, optimism and many mixed feelings that predicted various scenarios in the future of the platform.

Inspiration.

I recently read this extraordinary article: How can steem evolve? published in the account @happyvoter, managed by our good friend @achim03, in the, through an excellent graphic shows how after the changes applied, a remarkable consistency was established among authors who keep publishing, creating content on a regular basis something which in recent months had dropped dramatically.

That article served as inspiration for me to write this publication.

Now, I believe that in addition to that achievement, other important things have happened that may be unnoticed by many, but I know that many people here notice them and I would like us to share our personal opinion of the positive changes brought by HF21.

My personal experience.

Before HF21, in the only point that most of those who published articles related to this fork agreed, it was that the changes were being introduced seeking significant improvements for the platform, I understood it, although many did not understand what these changes would serve or that would help improve the platform.

Everything was uncertain for me, the 50/50 change in rewards was the greatest concern of the authors and my own, along with the negative feedback license that was being given to some "gunmen" who would no doubt feel authoritative to veto any publication that came out of its evaluation criteria, and thus a great discussion was generated regarding this.

I must confess that I am not a very thorough person to detect changes that I think have been almost imperceptible, for me life on the platform took its normal course without greatly affecting the operation of the platform.

After HF21, only two changes have I noticed that they have affected me, one positively and the other negatively. The most negative thing I have seen is that although you strive to establish a communication and leave valuable comments in the publications, people are not voting the comments as before, you do not get important votes no matter how good your comment is, logically with some exceptions

On the other hand I have noticed a significant improvement in healing rewards, logically according to my voting power, but I am receiving a reward as a healer much more than before HF21, so in that aspect a significant improvement is noticed.

Share your experience with us.

Almost three months of HF21 have passed and the biggest debt that steem has with us is still the price, although much discrepancy was generated around the changes that were announced, we all hoped that these changes would help the recovery of the steem price, something that even with all the improvements and innovations that the developers have introduced has not happened, however, we remain optimistic that this will happen.

Although as I mentioned earlier, I'm not so good at detecting those variations that HF21 brought, I know that many of you are very detailed, are very aware of mathematics and statistics, I want you to give me your impression, share your experience with us and in this way you will help others understand this process that we live in the platform.

On a scale of 1 to 10, in your opinion how much did HF21 change the blockchain steem? and mention the important changes you have noticed.

Please thank you for leaving your opinion in the comments section, help us in this investigation .

It's unfortunate that comments don't get that many votes anymore as it is difficult for votes to hit the payout threshold post HF21. However, I am seeing more manual curation and less spam. This is overall good for the platform.

We still see many minnows struggling though, which is a serious concern

@tipu curate

Hello friend @culgin, thank you very much for coming.

However, I am seeing more manual curation and less spam. This is overall good for the platform.

Totally agree, it is one of the things I have noticed now, manual curation, curation rewards and many more quality publications.

We still see many minnows struggling though, which is a serious concern

Of course, this is worrying, although there are many initiatives trying to help the little ones, I think it takes much more to solve this issue.

@tipu curate

I have noticed that you constantly benefit people with this vote, I would like to know what I need to do to help others with this tool.

Thanks friend!
@fucho80

Thanks! Tipu is a curation experiment now. Basically there are a group of tipu curators going around to curate good content. Unfortunately, it is not accepting new curators for now, but I will be sure to nominate you when it's open again

Ok friend I appreciate it

Hi my friend,

Thanks a lot for the mention of my article with @happyvoter. I will gladly give you my analysis after 3 months of HF21:

What is worse:

Because of prices but also because of lower rewards and flagging, the number of users have significantely dropped. There are less articles and less interaction. What I regret is that a lot of users were scared away by the missionary attacks to erase every kind of paid upvote on steem. So in a nutshell the ecosystem became smaller and the interaction levels dropped. This is certainly not favourable. In addition to that it has become almost impossible to evolve on steem without investing. Somebody starting with nothing can't claimb the steps to get some SP.

What is better

I believe that we have today much better quality of posts on steem. The "shitposts" are still around but they don't get any votes and this is not bad. The people who remain on steem are very dedicated and I think with this basis it is possible to grow.

Another great point in the last 3 months is the development of @project.hope

I believe that @project.hope has become a real community and everybody is working together to develop it. I met @crypto.piotr last sunday and we spent many hours talking about how it may develop. There are some very good ideas in store ;-)

Best regards,
Achim

Hello my dear @achim03, thanks for your intervention.

I must tell you that your analysis has no waste friend, all your input is very valuable and I would like to highlight everything.

I had no idea of the decrease in the participation of users in the platform, but if it is difficult to grow here, it is necessary to take strong measures that make people fall in love and are motivated to continue publishing on the platform, encourage new users .

That is good news, @project.hope is a real community as you manifest, personally I am honored to interact with very valuable people in this group.

It is a privilege for you to have the joy of meeting @crypto.piotr personally, I would like to have that privilege for what it means for this project, I hope that one day the conditions are met, he flies to Venezuela and can share a coffee in my Humble home with the man who started one of the most successful and important projects of this platform.

We may not have great resources but what has been achieved in group integration and commitment is something without precedents, I say it with all responsibility and without fear of being wrong.

Thanks friend, I appreciate your intervention very much.
@fucho80

Hi @fucho80

I would like to have that privilege for what it means for this project

I would also love to meet you, adams, jose and juan one day. Hopefully Venezuela will become safe place to go within next decade (before I'm to old to travel so far :)

Cheers
Piotr

@crypto.piotr
This is my response your email.

Checking how self upvotes from comments pays off.

Dear @guruvaj

Thank you for your kind comment and sorry for replying so late.

May I ask you for little favour? I'm not sure if I did ask you about it already or not (hope I'm not repeating myself).

Could you please check out also my recent post if you have few min and share your thoughts on questions related to concept of "introducing steem blockchain to businesses":

Your feedback is always appreciated ;) And I will upvote most valuable comment with 100-200k SP coming from project.hope account.

Hi friend.

I would also love to meet you, adams, jose and juan one day. Hopefully Venezuela will become safe place to go within next decade (before I'm to old to travel so far :)

It would be great if that happened, we hope that the situation in our country can improve in the coming years and you can travel to Venezuela. We pray for this to happen.

Great comment @achim03.
Check also my reply (you may be surprissed with some conclusions regarding upvoting comments and rewards from doing it).

Plenty of ideas yeyeye :)

HF21 serves as foundation reinforcement. Meaning, it is the technology which being develop, not the price. We are already old timer in this platform and yet are so many things to learn, we are new citizen beginning to participate in a new world if cryptos.

Let us enjoy, fix, calibrate the technology, then in the nearest future we will see more mainstream use.

Hello dear @guruvaj,

Let us enjoy, fix, calibrate the technology, then in the nearest future we will see more mainstream use.

It is very accurate what you say, however, it is good to know the progress, that things improve after some correction to know that we are on the right path, that is why my approach, try to know the improvements that each one personally perceives After these changes.

Thanks friend, very good comment.

people are not voting the comments as before, you do not get important votes no matter how good your comment is

Agreed. I hope comment interaction improves with the next update. I believe the inspired discussions to be the heart of the matter. After all, we can always change a conversations to meet any interest, but a post is static.

Add. I hope comment interaction improves with the next update.

Thank you, my friend, this is what we all expect, that the poor aspects be reviewed to improve.

:) and bring back easy smileys.

Hi.
I am not a user with years of experience, but what I have seen is that in recent months although the number of users has stabilized and in some ways the publications by users, there is the problem that the number is not growing of participants, I don't think that's good.
The detail that you do not vote for comments, because it is something that is noticed, but I also believe that the authors prefer to retain their voting power for posts rather than comments. I don't like it, but I understand them.
The increase in the curation reward was a good thing for users who actively focused on this activity and sought to promote quality content, but I'm not so sure that the creators of the detainees would receive it with the same enthusiasm, after all, they saw lower things a bit.
I thought from the beginning in this network that more than a site to earn a lot of money in a short time, it was a site to build a personal blog that if it was recognized would be rewarded, both in the aspects of votes and in comments that were enriching. Who knows, I thought that in the long run you could meet interesting people and so far I feel that I was not mistaken in my initial idea.

Hello my dear teacher @pedrobrito2004, thanks for coming.

True, the number of users does not increase, that is where the focus of witnesses, authorities and the community in general should be, we need to develop strategies that attract people and they can continue publishing.

I thought from the beginning in this network that more than a site to earn a lot of money in a short time, it was a site to build a personal blog that if it was recognized would be rewarded, both in the aspects of votes and in comments that were enriching. Very true, even today there are people who hear about the platform and think that it is a place where they can quickly generate wealth, even more if you live in Venezuela, however, the most incredible of this platform are the relationships you can build, while you learn , you grow and generate profits.

Thanks friend!
@fucho80

Great comment @pedrobrito2004

@fucho80, Most importantly Artificial Process got minimised and by that i mean after Hardfork 21, Manual Curation become more fun for most of the Steemians.

Have a wonderful time ahead and stay blessed.

Friend @fucho80 I congratulate you is an excellent topic that you bring up.

Of course, the changes were good in both aspects but only a few are equally affected in a positive way, and others in a negative way.
Positively, many with great voting power are carrying out healing manually. They don't care about the 5 minutes to vote since they will take the best slice with their high voting power.

As for the negative, it is two things, one still has good authors but they do not see a reward for their work and on the other hand the negative votes they are giving, although it is 10% even it looks very bad that one is voted for negative way.

Now those who are still standing is because we like to be here, many did not know how to withstand the pressure, so they grab their bags and leave.

So friend to continue publishing and inviting people to join

a big hug, buddy.

Hello dear @lanzjoseg, thanks for participating.

Positively, many with great voting power are carrying out healing manually. They don't care about the 5 minutes to vote since they will take the best slice with their high voting power.

Okay friend, that's a really good thing, manual healing has also made us participate more often in important votes, which is beneficial for everyone.

As for the negative, it is two things, one still has good authors but they do not see a reward for their work and on the other hand the negative votes they are giving, although it is 10% even it looks very bad that one is voted for negative way.

This negative feedback is the most awkward thing I could experience at this time.

Thanks for your comment!
