Best of Steemit Every Day

Best of the Best Logo

Every day, I bring you eight posts you should think hard about upvoting and supporting. These are quality posts, well written and good examples of the best the community has to offer. Please consider checking them out, and if you agree, love them up.

One of the rules here on BestOf is that I don’t do whales. Almost every single post I link to is a minnow post, generally from those under 60 in reputation. Until today, EVERY post has been one from the “new” list. But today...one of these was on the “trending” list. I’m so ashamed. I will do better in the future. As penance, this is probably the best BestOf ever, so check these out and see if you can forgive me.

Today's Best

Writing (Fiction): Love and a .38 by @authorlen. This is a long story for the platform. I didn’t care, and you shouldn’t, either. Give it the time to grow. It’s funny, solidly characterized, and the ending rocks. I’ll be following @authorlen, and I invite you to join me.

Writing (Nonfiction): Huxley, A Brave New World, and Decentralized Liberty by @stevescoins. One of my favorite novels--eerily prescient, for being written going on a hundred years ago-- @stevescoins does a great job of breaking down the issues involved in the classic. Take a minute, get a beverage, and grapple with this one.

Writing (Craft): Nourish Your Writing: Mini Writing Habis That Help Out by @screenwriterml. Hat tip for this find to @johnjgeddes. There are few enough posts about writing craft on Steemit, but then we get this GEM. Absolutely among the top craft posts ever on this site.

Steemit community: Extend the Steemit Experience by @thenightflier. Wonderful compilation of Steemit tools and what they do. There are a lot of new Steemians recently. This is the place I’d start, if I were just coming on board. Heck, I learned a bunch myself. Great, helpful, wonderful post.

Introduceyourself: Hello Steemit by @duhov. Sixteen? From Bulgaria? And you’re an artist? Oh, man, push another button. Check out the work this kid does!

Steem: Next Stop For Bitcoin: India by @jrcornel. I admit, I reached for this one. Steem not rocketing higher every day has tamped down the number of good posts about the currency, so I thought I’d show what a really great analysis looks like. When Steemit breaks into India in a big way, this post will show how it could happen.

Photography: Minimalism 3 by @eyemapuppet. I love black-and-white photos anyway. Put it together with minimalism, and you got my attention. Good work here.

Special Prize: Agnus Dei, Andreas Scholl (voice) by @mcordy. Little known fact about me: I wanted to be a countertenor up until I was about 30, when I realized it was not going to happen. I still love the vocal technique, and this is an excellent example of it.

As always, suggestions for posts to honor are gratefully accepted.

Rules of the Best Of:

I don't like grammar and spelling errors. I make them, but I hate them. Unless the post is supremely brilliant, even a couple of these--especially in the title--will mean it doesn't make this list. NOTE: if you're writing in your second language, significant slack will be given here. When I write in my second language, I'm lucky if I can be understood at all.

Minnows--I am a minnow, and I'm all in on support for the newbies. Doesn't mean I won't curate a whale post, but it's unlikely. If your rating is over 70, you don't need my help (for whatever it's worth).

I don't do porn, however artful.

Original content only.

I take requests. Gratefully. But not for your own work. Push someone else into the spotlight.

These are some good finds. I have some reading to now, haha.

Thanks for doing the legwork to find these gems @cristof!

It's truly my pleasure. I enjoy it.
