steem-music 003: My virgin roadshow (UPSI) - The start of a community, the birth of a dream.
It was sort of like my first business trip, I have never been a part of something so huge.
It's not big yet, but it will be, steem-music has the potential to be a very huge platform. When the founder of steem-music @calebleejl invited me to join in on their road show I was elated! All I had to do was to take a day off, which was a no brainer for me.
Geographically we are able to promote steem-music to the local community but really, what this community could be transcends geographical limitations. That's the dream!
Together with a good friend @calvinlee we set off on a 3 hour long journey to University Sultan Idris, also known as (UPSI)
God is good as he gave us the perfect weather to travel in. The trip was long but it was enjoyable with ocean blue milky white blanketed across the skies.
Eventually we will be meeting @perennial who will give us tips on how to use convert steem dollars to fiat money. The target for me tho was to at least convert SBD which was something imaginary and momentarily bring forth to reality. At least, to be able to pay for the petrol!
Pardon the messy food as I gobbled through a bit of it before remembering that I should take a photo of my food (pfffft millenials right! )
We quickly downed the lunch and went into the recital hall ( we were already late! )
Standing by would be seasoned musicians in Malaysia putting on their game faces!
The charming men from the right to the left would are: Wan Syaril, @zhusatrianni, @edward-ong, @calebleejl
We were greeted to a cultural musical band performance which I enjoyed very much! This was what it's like to study music! The four men on the portable percussion caught my attention as they enjoyed very much what they were doing. Totally Grooving!
When it was time for @zhusatrianni to take the mic, in very fluent BM knocked us off our feets! He was so funny, I think he could pass off a career as a comedian if not a musician! The guy was giving a masterclass in delivering an introduction to the blockchain technology in the local malay language!
When it came to the more technical questions, @perennial was at hand and displayed a very assertive explanation on how different cryptocurrency and steem blockchain is different from the usual business.
The technology is so new that it's nothing like we could imagine so really, it's a risk to venture in, but with the platform in which steemit is structured, theres not really any risks. kind of oxy moron, but if you take the time to think about it it really makes sense!
Within the asian community, especially in this developing countries such as Malaysia, the future of musicians and artists were never really supported by most communities as the stereotypical idea is that the profession will not land you a job that would pay you enough to support your life, family and career. In short the social stigma is that you won't live a happy life by having music as a career but with steemit and #steem-music, this would totally change the game.
It's the age of the millenials, old thoughts will have to be challenged and new thoughts have to be adopted to catch up with the changing trends!
Because of time, we ended our session had the complimentary teh tarik session and a quick tutorial guide with more experienced steemit bloggers.
