Steemit What do you do with your Spam comments?
My fitinfun replies to SPAM Comments
Here are some examples of what I cut and paste into my replies to comment spammers when I get them here at steemit or in the chats. I can't do a lot as a little minnow, but I do what I can.
ALSO: make sure to chance the wording a bit each time. I just got dinged by @cheetah and you do not want that!!!!

You are not supposed to ask for FOLLOWERS here at steemit. Search for "how to comment on posts" for ideas. But in general - write a few sentences about what you see in the post and tell the person if you upvoted or resteemed to help them. Then they might follow you anyway. Good luck!

You are not supposed to ask for up votes here at steemit. Later, when you get more power, people will see you and downvote you so you do not want that.
Search for "how to comment on posts" for ideas.
But in general - write a few sentences about what you see in the post and tell the person if you upvoted or resteemed to help them. Then they might follow you anyway.

Look up "how to comment at steemit" so you can learn what they like here. The big guys will crush you if the see this type of comment repeatedly. You need at least one sentence and it needs to say something specific about the post you are on. Three sentences is even better! Good luck :)

Normally, I hear nothing. Sometimes I get asked for help. The person normally does not spam me again.

Nothing at fitinfun would be possible if I still weighed 275 pounds. Anyone can lose weight if I did.

I ignore and downvoted, depending how annoying
I was thinking I'm too weak to downvote effectively and I am annoyed to see the spam just hang there unanswered. This is sort of my middle ground.
I had to laugh at myself when I found out I was talking to bots though. Gullible is my middle name!

Yes it's not usually a problem. This bot checks all posts against internet search to check for plagiarism in the text.
So let's say you run a blog with a good post. you can't just copy paste the text here or you will get dinged. You have to quote it with markup which I do not know how to do. You need to include the link and paraphrase or quote. Same if you find something online you want to use here that is not yours.
I don't really have all the details of right and wrong about this since I usually write original content for my posts. In this case - I posted comments I had already used here - exact wording- so the cheetah got me.
This is to cut down spammers and if you get a bunch of cheetah hits - the big guys will come knock you down. But one or two mistakes is not a problem. That's why the message is nice. Most of us just made a mistake.

Normally I will ignore those follow me or upvote me type of comments... Sometimes I will visit their profile page to check them out... Sometimes it's just because these people don't know how to start a conversation or English isn't their first language... But sometimes they are really just spammers... I haven't flag or report or block anyone.. And I don't wish to do so too... At most I just unfollow if I happen to follow them the first place.
I do find the problem of new people on occasion, but I think here - it is bots for the most part. Although I do have a couple of people in steemit chat who send me their posts daily in pm's with no text lol.
I'm just happy to put an answer on the comment on my post so it does not just sit there. Hopefully the sadkitten type initiatives are ending most of the problem.
Indeed there's lots of bots here... But I find most of them are helping us... So I am good with that.

We have just ignored all spammers comments. Don't really get many anymore.
It happens more the bigger you get. After 50, 55, 60 etc your get more as people search for high reputation to do this to.

I have had very bad experiences of reaching out to people. As a new entrant i did not know how to exactly reach out for help so i used to send private messages and check and there were some very very nasty people who would comment with a foul abusive language.
If people do not wish to work with you they can just not respond but dont stoop down so low and hurt soneone.
Yes, the pm's do not work here. You need to write comments of about 3+ sentences that will make people be interested enough to check out your feed. This takes the effort of reading their posts and coming up with something thoughtful to say. I don't normally comment if I do not have a good point to make about the post. It is not easy here for sure :)
