[Steem-Chess] Game #1 (Visual update) - Move #04

in #steem-chess8 years ago

I recently started Steem-Chess and after some consideration and inspiration from user @mattclarke who also started #chessmatch in his post I decided to make the visualization a bit easier on the eyes and include a real chess table next to the unicode one.

Also a post that deserves a mention is one by @good-karma called Turn-Based games on the block-chain. Give it a read!

Surprisingly though the unicode one looks really great and easy to the eye on your phone! You should definitely check it out there if that helps.

I decided to sketch a little steemit logo to add to the photos of the chess board each move. It started by me writing it down like this:

Then I quickly cut the logo and numbers out:

and the results and long awaited MOVE - 04 is officially posted! Let the gaming commence! (posted with black being on this side since its easier for the community to make their next move)

Move 3 White: Knight B1 -> C3, Black: Pawn E7 -> E6

Move 4 White: Pawn D2 -> D3, Black: ...

In Unicode: (Do note that from the picture above this is up and down (black is up, white down)

HOW TO PLAY

Find my comment with the latest move of white and the board.
Write down a move and reply to it. (the move with the highest vote value goes through)
Then wait for the next move to be announced.

Rewards

If Steemit wins, 3 players with most moves receive 45% of the posts rewards (this one is combined with part 1)
5% goes to the person who had most of the last 10 moves.
30% of the post rewards are left in the "Season JackPot" to be won at the end of the tournament.

More about the details, check out the announcement post

They might also be fine-tuned depending on how many readers are following the moves and voting the different alternatives given by the community forward.

Good luck!

Confirmed!

Nice move! Will update shortly my next move and add a photo and unicode.

PS. I noticed I had made a mistake on move 3. I had written D2-D3 when I meant E2-E3 (like you can see on the unicode placing), but on the photo it was on D3 so I'll just take it as my disadvantage for now since it was my screw up. :)

Move 5 is up!

Move #6 is up on #steem-chess!

Great job! Was thinking about this with @thegame at one point.
Will share on twitter and with some steem(it) chess players.

Update: Current prize to the 3 winners is over 60 SD already if you win!

More active comments from different participants would be welcomed! A new move comes up once every 1-8 hours to keep it random and give everyone a fair chance.

mmmm wizards chess :D

I'm curios how are you going to prevent cheating?

it is not guaranteed that your move will be accepted, in a way community votes deciding next move. All you can do is offer move and community votes on it. But it is always challenge in online chess games, you simply never know, but fair game and having fun makes it very interesting. let's see :)

Ok, wish you luck with your project. :)

Hehe guess the community just have to trust me :P can't really come up with a good way to prove i'm not cheating. But as good-karma said the one with the highest comment value on the move goes through.

Frankly speaking, I prefer online chess. All clear and all can be checked.

How can you check exactly? I'm guessing the way of "cheating" you were thinking of is if I would open up the chess game on my windows and re-enact every move so that I can be the "PC" and choose its moves.

I guess online and with a timer this cheat could be avoided, but computers are pretty fast nowadays.

i already answered this question 6 days ago in other post :)

Ahh the one about the online chess tournament on that one site? Yeah I remember.

But yeah, quite frankly I haven't played chess in a long time so the chances of me winning are slim :p I could comment on each move and why I chose it if that helps avoid cheating suspicion.

Move 5 White: Bishop C1 -> D2, Black: B8 -> C6
Move 6 White: A2 -> A3, Black -> ???

Remember to vote on your own comment if you want that move to go through, or if someone else's is a better move and you want it to pass.

B4 -> D6
PS. Black King should be inline with white king on E line.
Current State:

Ah yeah, mirrored images on the photo and unicode one are getting me mixed up. I'll look into it and post the next move once I get home on the PC.

any new moves?

Hehe I was just about to take a new photo of the next move! Stay tuned! :)

That moment when you are taking the picture and your phone battery is too low for flash. :p

Confirmed. (the payouts of the comments have been removed, but I think this was the highest voted move.)

Creating a new thread for the next part so that I can more easily tell the comments payouts and get this game moving faster. Will post my next move in that thread as well. (also leaving out the unicode version for this game until we figure out a better way to make it automated/easier to input the changes)

check out this: you can put FEN and get image of position.
http://www.fen-to-image.com/manual
Above image I did: <img src='http://www.fen-to-image.com/image/r1bqk2r/ppp2ppp/2nbpn2/3p4/8/P1NP2P1/1PPBPPBP/R2QK1NR'/>

How do I create a new one and input the positions?

scratch that, use this instead: https://en.lichess.org/editor/r1bqk2r/ppp2ppp/2nbpn2/3p4/8/P1NP2P1/1PPBPPBP/R2QK1NR_w_KQkq_- can take screenshot or use FEN from there to generate image

Ait, i'll use that site to generate an image as well + the photo's for now.

I wouldn't push it to the corner and g, e diagonals doesn't give any advantage at this point. I would suggest B4 -> D6 for now.

I probably make more sense. I don't know exactly why I hesitated to put it where you put it but looking back at it I think it makes more sense.

Move 8 is up! Thanks for participating!

Your pieces are much easier to identify than mine. I won't join in, because my match has already almost cost me a marriage, but consider me an enthusiastic supporter.

Thanks, I've had this chess board for at least 16 years. Not played in like 10 though. :D

Haha, chess can easy become frustrating. I'm gonna try and find some more time to finish my current game and try and come up with a simpler way to implement this for community playing.
