Welcome to Humans of Star Trek, a Star Trek inspired motivation series.

These are the voyages of Starfleet personnel who came together to give us a future that humanity craves for and deserves. Together, let's boldly go where no one has gone before.

Worf, son of Mogh, is Klingon and Star Trek royalty to say the least. He is one of the few characters to appear prominently in two Star Trek canon series. One paragraph or article is not enough to describe the son of Mogh so I will stick to parts of his Starfleet career for brevity.

Worf first appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He served as the command division bridge officer on USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) under Captain Jean-Luc Picard and later served as security chief. He also appeared in Deep Space 9, where he assisted Captain Benjamin Lafayette Sisko.

Klingons are perhaps the most popular alien species depicted in Star Trek. And the son of Mogh is right up there with Spock himself as one of the most popular non-human characters in Star Trek history.

Worf is different from other Klingons in the sense that he is able to exercise restraint and his wisdom is unparalleled amongst a species which is largely into wars and brawls over honor and respect. Worf is also a warrior like any other Klingon but growing up with his human foster parents and sibling ensured that he was exposed to human frailties and culture. So he got the best of both worlds (pun not intended).

Today's quote is one of my favourites. It takes a brave and honest lifeform, klingon or human, to acknowledge that fear is a natural emotion that must not be ignored and we must not pretend that we are braver than we actually are. It is okay to fear. It is not okay to let your fear consume you.

We must always try to conquer our fears but we must not allow hubris to cloud our judgement. As far as we know most known lifeforms experience fear but those that push through the fear and fight for survival eventually make it through. Humans have made it through countless millennia of fear and we are still around. A pessimist or an overconfident pragmatist would argue "yes but for how long?" but I think accepting our frailties and embracing our vulnerabilities is not the same as giving into our fear.

Whatever we do in life and however confident we get about our future as individuals or as a society, we must not let complacency and hubris dominate our worldview. We must allow room for critical thinking and we must make evidence based decisions, both as individuals and as a society.

We must not be the fool who fears nothing or nobody. The son of Mogh has spoken - only fools have no fear!

You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:

Humans have made it through countless millenia of fear and we are still around.
It should be millennia instead of millenia.

You are probably a bot but thanks for the correction. Oh and tell your human, he/she is not "fighting illiteracy" as your bio states. People make typos all the time. If your human was actually writing posts instead of running bots it won't be long before he/she started making typos.
