Welcome to Humans of Star Trek, a Star Trek inspired motivation series.

These are the voyages of Starfleet personnel who came together to give us a future that humanity craves for and deserves. Together, let's boldly go where no one has gone before.

Charles Tucker III, better known as Trip, was the chief engineer of the Starship Enterprise under Captain Jonathan Archer. Trip is one of the most loved characters in Star Trek history. His candid and often sarcastic nature act as the perfect foil to other senior officers on the Enterprise, including Captain Archer, Science officer T'Pol, and tactical officer Malcolm Reed.

Unlike his love interest T'Pol, Trip isn't the most calm and logically consistent person in the Enterprise crew but he is one of the most important members of the crew because of his outstanding skills in the engineering department. The Enterprise won't be the Enterprise if it wasn't for its chief engineer.

The quote depicted above is part of a conversation Trip is having with Daniels, a man from the future who came back in time to help and warn Captain Archer and his crew so that the bad factions involved in the Temporal Cold War don't end up changing history and preventing the formation of the United Federation of Planets. If you are not a Star Trek regular and all of that sounds too nerdy and alien don't worry I am not getting into any details right now but in future Humans of Star Trek posts I will elaborate on some of these very cool Star Trek stories that are as crazy as they are inspiring.

This quote really does hit it home, doesn't it? Haven't we all wondered at times what will happen to our planet and to us as a species in a few hundred and a few thousand years? It's always a strange discussion no matter how you look at it but it's always an interesting one no doubt. Of course pondering too much about the future may not be the wisest way to spend your time but it certainly does help to keep a broader view of our collective global future in mind while making small decisions about our own lives.

Some of these decisions could be as simple as - we can try and prevent water wastage as much as possible. Or we can switch to solar powered, or other renewable, solutions for our electricity needs. If some of us can afford it then why not choose an electric car over a petrol or diesel one? Or maybe we can decide to pay for the education of at least one child in need, who knows if that child turns out to be the next Tesla, Wozniak, or Musk.

You know random acts of kindness that could cumulatively have some impact on our collective future. It is good to be positive but it is better to engage in some activity that converts the positivity of the mind into positive results for society in general.

To paraphrase Trip: it would be good if Earth was still around long after everyone reading this is long gone.
