NHL Game #2
I have made plans to try and see at least one NHL game per season with my son. We are going to pick a city each year and travel there for a few days to see the sites, eat the eats and pick up tickets to an NHL game.
Since Luke was only 5 I asked him who he wanted to go and watch. His first choice was Buffalo. In February we headed out and saw a regular season game between the Sabres and the Islanders. We had blast. It was a great first choice as it is only a 2 1/2 hour drive from our place.
This year he picked Boston. Unfortunately as a Flyers fan, Boston is one of the team that I just can't root for. Luckily for me I was able to pick up some tickets for a Bruins preseason game verses none other then the Philadelphia Flyers.
We had a blast as you can see by the pictures below. And the game was decent as well. Most of the starters dressed and the game went to overtime.
We are collecting hockey pucks from every game that we go to. We purchased a Bruins one at the official gift shop. We headed up to watch the warm ups. We were in the Flyers end and were about 8 rows from the ice. Claude Giroux, the captain of the Flyers, takes a shot that is deflected over the glass. It lands a couple of seats down from us. The couple that picked it up came over to Luke and let him have it. He couldn't believe it.

That's really awesome to plan for one every year. I hope you are able to keep up the tradition!
Our travels rarely include a hockey game, but just last night I was thinking it would be cool to see what the atmosphere is like in some other arenas than Bridgestone. Not much can beat being there Tuesday night for the banner hanging as Western Conference Champions, but I think there are some really neat arenas to check out.
We are traveling to New York in April, so I may have to see what the Rangers are doing during that time, MSG is probably quite a place to see a game!
Now you've given me ideas.... that's never good. LOL
