Magnus Carlsen vs Sergey Karjakin

Between November 11 and 30, 2016, the match that will determine the next World Chess Champion is being played in New York. As is well known, the contenders are Grand Masters Magnus Carlsen (current champion) and Sergey Karjakin (title contender).

The Norwegian and Russian are playing a match to 12 games, and will be awarded World Champion who earns 6.5 points. In the event that the match ends tied in 6 points, it will be defined in a tie-break session, which will consist of quick matches first, if the tie persists, blitz will be played and if necessary, it will be defined in Armageddon.

Time control: 100 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for 20 more moves, and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game. In all periods there will be 30 seconds increment per move.

Game 6

After the dramatic draw of the fifth game of the World Chess Championship, the sixth began in the most promising way possible. Again on the roads of the Spanish opening, Magnus Carlsen, with blacks, raised a version of the Marshall attack, which involves a pawn sacrifice in exchange for attack. It soon became apparent that the Norwegian had the line of home scrutinized better than his rival, making very complicated plays instantly, but Sergey Karjakin did not fall into any of the traps.

Everything ended up in the fastest draw of the championship. It can not be said that it was a draw without history because there is much work hidden behind, but for the viewer it was a new disappointment, this time without errors or emotion.

Nice great post! never appreciated chess so much! Im excited to see the outcome! I never realized there was such a science behind it all, although I had an idea there was. Keep up the work!

science, art and a game.... all in one.
very kind sir.... tnks.

Watched the game live on Chessnetwork's Twitch channel. Before d5 my thoughts were "oh dear we're gonna have another dry Ruy Lopez", but fortunately I was mistaken. It was an interesting game despite that it was a draw, excited to see what comes next :)
