Magnus Carlsen vs Sergey Karjakin

Game 2

The second game of the match in New York, between the Norwegian titleholder Magnus Carlsen and the Russian aspirant Sergey Karjakin, revealed the equality of chess between these two great talents of the board, less in these first two games.

Karjakin, who drove the white pieces, chose the most popular of the openings: the celebrated Spanish opening. He soon turned away from the theoretical paths, trying to surprise the adventurer, but Carlsen with precise replicas matched with relative comfort.

In move thirty, eliminating the pawns of the queenside, was a position of complete balance: rook and two knights per side and equal pawns. Three moves later, at 33, due to the inability to force the game, they agreed to draw.

The marker now draws a tie to 1 point. This Sunday, day of rest. The title will be for who reaches first 6.5 points, in a duel scheduled to twelve matches.
