El Viento se Levanta (Análisis) / The Wind Rises (Analysis) [ESP/ENG]
Bienvenidos a otro post donde analizaremos una de las películas del estudio Ghibli, hoy es turno de "El Viento se Levanta" una película que desprende un mar de emociones y que no te puedes perder, así que comencemos.
Es muy difícil no sentir ese aire de nostalgia que Miyazaki suele mostrar en sus trabajos; nostalgia por mundos perdidos, de tradiciones que ya no se recuerdan y más que nada personajes inolvidables. Cada una de sus producciones carga consigo misma una magia que distingue y nutre sus historias fantásticas, así como incontables metáforas que le dan sentido a su trama. Sin embargo, es un creador de contenido poco repetible.
"El viento se levanta" es declarada por sí misma como la última película de Miyazaki y por lo tanto anuncia su retiro definitivo. Algo a tener en cuenta es que esta es su obra más personal, pero sin duda la menos agraciada entre todo su repertorio, aclaro que incluso la "peor" película de Miyazaki rosa la excelencia, no me malinterpreten, pero es la ausencia de las representaciones inmensas de fantasía lo que la hace así, sobretodo de las cuales estamos acostumbrados.
La película está ambientada en la vida de Jirō Horikoshi, un famoso diseñador de aviones para combatir en el bando de Japón durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se puede ver que es la primera vez que Miyazaki puede desatar su más grande pasión en lo que adora hacer: la aviación. Sí, no podemos olvidar a Porco Rosso el cual fue un acercamiento al tema, pero en esa obra la aviación era únicamente una herramienta y no la base de la historia. En esta historia existe un esfuerzo por aferrarse a la historia que más relevancia tiene el país, se puede ver el manejo de un orden cronológico de los eventos; empezando por el terremoto de Kanto de 1923, pasando de cerca por la gran depresión de los 30, culminando con la guerra.
Es imposible no asociar la película con la realidad, y olvidar que esta película es el retiro del creador, pero debe significar algo el haber elegido una temática tan opuesta a lo que nos tiene acostumbrados. La obsesión y el perfeccionismo se pueden tener en cuenta como características similares entre ambos, y por consiguiente la búsqueda de lo bello.
La belleza que busca Jirō durante toda la película es responsable de la destrucción mostrada en la misma, y aunque no se da a entender de una forma tan clara, hay indicios y pistas en la que nos muestran que Jirō es consciente de ello. Su interminable pasión es lo que perdura en el mientras pasan los años, a diferencia de las personas que han sido parte de su vida.
La voz oculta de Miyazaki se hace presente. Hablamos de un artista que, desde 1997, con su película "La Princesa Mononoke", ha dicho en diversas ocasiones su intención de recurrir al retiro. El amor por su profesión, sin duda, es lo que lo hace regresar. Quisiera parecer que la destrucción que persigue a Jirō como respuesta a su pasión se refiere a una situación real de Miyazaki que tiene presente un miedo a no tener la capacidad de decir algo relevante, o tener una ausencia de sentido, al momento de crear una belleza inservible.
Si se ve la película desde esta perspectiva, "El viento se levanta" no solo es la representación biográfica de Jirō, sino, incluso representa de cierta forma la vida de Miyazaki, una vida sin filtros ni fantasías. Por esta razón este film se convierte en una declaración algo triste a pesar de que cuenta con una calidez a través los colores y el típico y conocido diseño de los personajes.

It is very difficult not to feel the air of nostalgia that Miyazaki usually shows in his work; nostalgia for lost worlds, of traditions that are no longer remembered and, most of all, unforgettable characters. Each of its productions carries with it a magic that distinguishes and nourishes its fantastic stories, as well as countless metaphors that give meaning to its plot. However, it is a creator of little repeatable content.
"The wind rises" is declared by itself as the last film of Miyazaki and therefore announces its definitive retirement. Something to keep in mind is that this is his most personal work, but certainly the least graceful among all his repertoire, I clarify that even the "worst" Miyazaki film rose excellence, do not get me wrong, but it is the absence of representations immense fantasy what makes it so, especially of which we are accustomed.
The film is set in the life of Jirō Horikoshi, a famous aircraft designer to fight on the side of Japan during World War II, you can see that it is the first time that Miyazaki can unleash his greatest passion in what he loves to do : the aviation. Yes, we can not forget Porco Rosso which was an approach to the subject, but in that work aviation was only a tool and not the basis of the story. In this story there is an effort to cling to the history that has more relevance in the country, you can see the management of a chronological order of events; starting with the Kanto earthquake of 1923, passing close by the great depression of the 30, culminating with the war.
It is impossible not to associate the film with reality, and forget that this film is the creator's withdrawal, but it must mean something having chosen a theme so opposite to what we are accustomed to. Obsession and perfectionism can be taken into account as similar characteristics between both, and therefore the search for the beautiful.
The beauty that Jirō seeks throughout the film is responsible for the destruction shown in it, and although it is not given to understand so clearly, there are clues and clues in which they show us that Jirō is aware of it. His endless passion is what lingers in him as the years go by, unlike the people who have been part of his life.
The hidden voice of Miyazaki is present. We speak of an artist who, since 1997, with his film "Princess Mononoke", has said on several occasions his intention to resort to retirement. The love for his profession, without a doubt, is what makes him come back. I would like to think that the destruction that persecutes Jirō in response to his passion refers to a real situation of Miyazaki that has a fear of not having the ability to say something relevant, or to have an absence of sense, when creating a beauty. useless.
If the film is seen from this perspective, "The wind rises" is not only the biographical representation of Jirō, but even represents in a certain way the life of Miyazaki, a life without filters or fantasies. For this reason this film becomes a somewhat sad statement despite the fact that it has a warmth through the colors and the typical and well-known design of the characters.
