Welcome to Mystery Photo Fridays!
Hello and welcome to this weeks Mystery Photo Fridays. A weekly contest for the #socalsteemit community, beginning and ending each friday at around 9am, where we'll post a photo of a place or thing here in Southern California and ask you to guess where or what the photo is in the comments. And the Steemian who guesses correct first will win 1SBI!!

Here is this weeks Mystery Photo!!
The clues for this week are -
- This was once the site of a 70-room Victorian hotel
- The hotel opened in 1894 and was destroyed in a fire in 1900
- It's been listed on the National Register of Historic Places
- It once featured an astronomical observatory, a casino, and even a zoo!
So what or where is it?? Let’s hear your best guesses! First correct guess wins. And the winner will be announced at the start of next weeks Mystery Photo Fridays contest!

Wow, you have the best photos!! And it seems we have a lot of people among us who know our area. I am not one of them LOL
That hotel sounds fantastic!! I do think we need to organize SoCal Sunday hikes and to some of the locations you keep showing us!!
Echo Mountain
It is in the San Gabriel Mountains. From Altadena CA, take Lake Ave north till it ends. Then find street parking. Then walk east to the Sam Merrill trailhead. Take that to Echo Point. It is about a 2 hour hike. Love that place. The ruins at the top are called "White City."
