Future Educators & Out of School Youth in One SteemPH Event

in #sndbox7 years ago (edited)

A couple of weeks ago, I posted an article about how me and my wife are encouraging art for our two daughters. In that article, I spoke about how we are using creativity in art to aide in our children's learning and development. Our first real engagement with the community, through the help of Steem and Steemit, was with an event of Art and Music spent with children with special needs and their parents. You can read all about that event in these posts:

In that event we had an opportunity to talk about Steemit, and encourage likely stay at home mothers to sign-up to give them some ideas on productive things they can do while at home taking care of their children's special need.

Next Tuesday November 21, through the efforts of @flabbergast-art, in cooperation with the Core @steemph supported by the Manila arm @steemph.manila, we will do another outreach/Steemit Promotion event.

The event will be held in De La Salle University in Dasmariñas, Cavite. On behalf of everyone involved in this project, I give my thanks to the institution for providing a venue to make this event possible. Here are a couple of paragraphs quoted from the communal account @steemph.manila about the event. The whole post can be read here: Project Alinaga: A Day of Art, Friendship & Steemit Promotion @ De La Salle Dasmariñas

In this event we are going to work with youth from both extremes of socio-economic class in the area. It is known that you've got to be in the upper socio-economic class to afford De La Salle tuition fees. In the morning, we will be working with education students and give them basic art training, and explain how art can help in educating children. We are very thankful to the University for allowing us to use their facilities in an afternoon session, this time with some 80 Cavite out of school youth. In the afternoon session, we aim to empower the working class with skills they can use for livelihood.

We are very excited for this event, it presents a really good opportunity to work with talented Filipino youths which the global Steemit community is fast becoming aware of. At some point through the sessions, we will present Steem and Steemit as an investment opportunity to the upper class group, and as an additional income opportunity to the lower class group.

In the morning between 8:00AM to 12:00NN, we will have a basic art training with 80 education students from De La Salle University Dasmariñas. We will use existing Steemit materials to tell talk to them about how art can help in educating children including your truly's: 🎨🎭🎼Encouraging Art & Creativity to Aide Learning🎼🎭🎨

In the afternoon between 1:00PM to 5:00PM we will have a functional art (crafts making) learning session with 80 out of school youth from the area. This is to impart knowledge they can use for livelihood. In both session, we will have an opportunity to promote Steemit to energetic, and talented youth from both social classes.

This event is fully funded by Steem through the efforts of the growing community of Filipino Steemians in Steemit Philippines - SteemPH. The Core at SteemPH will fund the estimated $145 worth of snacks for the out of school youth, while the Manila arm SteemPH Manila will fund the fares for the volunteers. I wish to thank everyone who sent their donations to both communal accounts @steemph and @steemph.manila.

In the spirit of transparency I want to provide an update on the communal account @steemph.manila and the support through donations, delegations, and upvotes. Thanks goes to:

@precise - For creating the communal account
@allmonitors - For the 15 SBD donation
@st3llar - For the 10 Steem donation
@rye05 - For the 7 Steem and 5 SBD donation
@dandalion - For the 8 SBD donation

Yours truly donated 15 Steem, and delegated 150 SP to the communal account temporarily to help it build up SP via curation.

Special thanks to our @steemph family for all the support in making these events possible.

We need more volunteers. Please reach out to us via the Steemit Philippines - SteemPH discord channel, or to me directly. I can be reached in Steemit Chat and Discord via the same username @steemitph.

All rewards from this post, liquid and the SP equivalent both will be sent to @steemph to support future projects.

Thank you for Using #promo-steem tag, Promote steemit by inviting your friends and your family!

Wow this is a great endeavor and amazing that you all set up this. to think that it can be fully funded from Steemit.

I hope I can use your example to highlight how it would be good for our foundation to do something similar and utilize Steemit for our funding drives next school year.
