ONCE IN A BLUE MOON EXPERIENCE : SUPER BLUE BLOOD MOON

In Cebu, hundreds of residents went outside of their house to catch a glimpse of the super blue blood moon. and I am one of them since this is my first time to witness the most anticipated rare phenomenal event that occurs last night (January 31, 2018). Stargazers and most people interested in astronomical events are now much hype and excited to witness the so-called “Super Blue Blood Moon.

So I will give you some trivia about Super Blue Blood Moon.

What is Super Blue Blood Moon?

Super because the moon was at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, “Blue” because it’s the second full moon in a calendar month, and “Blood” because the eclipse made it appear red

So this is how it goes :

Supermoon – It is an event wherein the moon appears larger and brighter compared to the usual full moon because moon reaches its closest distance to the earth.

Blue moon – it is the second full moon of the calendar month, which usually occurs every two to three years.

Blood moon – It can be seen during a total lunar eclipse, wherein the color of the moon turns to red.

I'm so grateful and blessed that I have observed this phenomenal event and its visible in my own naked eye starting from 8:51 pm to 10: 07 pm last night. The last super blue blood moon in the Philippines appears last December 30, 1982.

But before I saw the full bloom of the moon, I had my constant monitoring of it. I started in the late afternoon with the same location ( outside of my house ) and camera.

First shot ( around - 5:50 pm) the sky is still clear and the moon is not visible

Second shot ( around - 6:10 p.m ) - it's a little dark already and one-third of the moon surface is visible

Third shot (around - 6:30 p.m ) - its already dark and half of the moon is visible

Fourth shot ( around - 7:00 pm ) - the moon is visible but there are no changes of color

Fifth shot ( around - 7:30 p.m ) - the moon become bigger and start to move upward

Sixth shot ( around - 8:00 pm ) - the moon changes its color to red

Seventh shot ( around 8: 50 pm ) - the full bloom of the moon.

It was a fabulous experience to shoot Super Blue Blood Moon on my rooftop. I have never expected this to happen in my life. In my 33 years of existence, this is one of my best experience so far. according to urban legend, the sinister blood moon is a sign from the heavens above that the biblical Messiah is returning to signal the end of the world. and there will be a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood. But for me, there is no credible evidence to suggest the moon is in any shape or form linked to the bible or the end of the world. Only God knows when the world ends, just TRUST him.
