ESO Announcement: Kilonova confirms gravity waves.
So the big news that ESO came out with today was the announcement of the observation of not only light but also gravity waves caused by two neutron stars colliding 130 million years ago!
On August 17, gravity waves were first detected followed by a new light in the sky 2 seconds after.
This so called Kilonova is a 1000 times stronger than a normal supernova.
Although Kilonova’s have been predicted 30 years ago, it is the time in human history that we have witness one.
This event produces heavy metals such as : gold, lead , platinum.
