WE ARE NAKED AND EMPTY BEFORE GOD
Great Minds,
Pondering over life and it's excesses, I am moved to present this post today, "naked and empty before God". Judging from the way we live and how we flaunt our wealth and how sometimes we act as if there is no tomorrow or rather that life ends with us. The fact still remains that we are empty and naked before God and we can not hide our true self from Him. God knows us.

Perhaps we should look at the story of Job in the Bible and that of Solomon.
The book of Job in the Bible presents us with a sobering scenario and life question: What will we say when we stand naked before God, with nothing to present before Him but who we are and the quality of our character? Job was in that situation, he was stripped down to that level. Everything he had, his family, wealth, even his bodily strength were completely taken away from him. As a result he was brought down, I mean reduced to the very level at which he entered life and at which he would leave = completely naked and at this point on his own at zero point. See the Bible Job 1:20-21; 26:6
It is quite easy to forget that lastly and ultimately we will stand naked and empty before God. We can keep and surround ourselves with houses, cars and other admirable possessions that seem to hide our true person and condition. Yet in the end, all of that, I mean everything will slip away and then we must consider: What we have left, what is remaining of us?
The story of King Solomon draw the point home and gave vivid illustration. I mean Solomon faced such challenge like Job. He was one of the wealthiest and wisest men who ever lived. Yet after living a lavished lifestyle and took his Kingdom to the height of its prosperity he wrote in Eccl. 5:15 "As a person came naked from his mother's womb, so shall he return". An Arab proverb offers similar perspective : "There are no pockets in the burial shroud".
So if we can not rely on our wealth and possessions when we stand before God, what will we show? Job wanted to offer integrity and righteousness. But you see not even Job's integrity and righteousness were enough to satisfy God. We have nothing, yes you heard me right, nothing to offer God but his own MERCY displayed in the cross of Christ.
Let this story touch you to consider others to show mercy and to live simply acknowledging God and have in mind that we are naked and empty before God.
