Next Level Food Consciousness: The Glorious Potential

in #quinneaker6 years ago

Food is a huge part of the human experience as it is for all creatures.

In fact when one is starving one is likely to steel or even kill to feed that hunger.

On the other hand there are many people (such as Americans) who have more food than they can eat and not only consume excess food, but waste extreme amounts of food.

IMO there is no such thing as waste and to participate in such is as close to a sin as there is. Everything is life and has value. It is important to honor that value even if not eating it.

So for example....Buying food and then letting it go bad on the shelfs or in the fridge. Thats just a total waste. Ideally it wouldn't happen but if it does at least that food should be composted, turned into soil and then grow food from it......

In this way, waste is reduced and a sustainable circle of life is activated. Now of course if one is buying it form a store there are many levels of waste happening before the food is ever even bought, let alone wasted afterwards.

So the number one thing that has to happen to reduce waste is to stop buying food at stores. This means that either one must grow ones own food or get it locally. Unfortunately there is not a sufficient infrastructure for either of these in cities, but thats because people don't care.

Which then brings us to the real matter at hand. Priorities, principles, values, integrity, compassion and CARE for more than just our own consumption.

Obviously creatures need to eat and that includes humans. Yet it can be done sustainably, it can be done with compassion and care for the greater circle of life instead of blatant consumerism at all costs.

So for example any food scraps may that be uneaten food, potato peals or avocado pits, it can be fed to animals or composted. That compost can be turned into prime soil and you or someone local can use it to grow more food, then in turn this food is now available locally and does not need to be purchased at a store and all its unsustainable existence.

Rainwater can be harvested, well water can be tapped, and even moisture from the air can be collected. No need to use expensive chemical laden water.....

Food can be cooked in solar ovens, hand made rocket stoves or with methane gas....Yes methane gas can be made from your SHIT which comes from the FOOD that you EAT. So even the food you eat can be turned into the gas that cooks the food that you eat....

Hopefully you begin to see the underlining consciousness here. The first step is awareness. Second step is care and third step is responsibility.

Love you daddy!

Super valuable post @quinneaker. From my experience most people never think beyond their mouths, and never consider almost any of the other aspects of the circle you mention! Hence, why the information you share is so profound. Thanks for sharing the awareness. Let's hope people will see what you offer, and care enough to be responsible about it. <3 Keep bringing it on!

Food is abundant and free!

Well avocado pits can be fed to animals as long as it is not the predominant thing in the food they eat as it is poisonous to them but not to us. I researched on it back in March and that's what I found out. Even wrote about it here too. 😊

I also agree that we should not waste food. When I see restaurants with leftovers from patrons I cannot help but be dismayed. Some cities in the US have already started collecting such and turning it into something else like biodegradable plastic, etc. While here in third world countries it has mostly not caught on to us yet. Hopefully soon.
