PixResteemer Daily Spotlights for the Love Your Steem Communities PowerHouseCreatives Contest

A couple years ago, when I first started swimming in the Steemit sea, long before the time that @jaynie pointed me in the direction of the Power House Creatives (formerly known as @steemitbloggers), I was feeling a bit lost and adrift. After some time of posting my pictures and Tarot card posts (whilst upvoting & resteeming ALL THE THINGS because I thought that was the thing to do...😜), I noticed this reply popping up here and there -

After a long and exhaustive search (aka, I checked out @pixresteemer's profile), I discovered this message -

Hi there,

I’m @pixresteemer the human bot 😉
Yes, human, because there really is someone behind this account… someone who prefers to stay anonymous right now and has another account here on steemit…

But as he doesn’t like to mess up his stream with resteems, he created this account as a way to share the work of other great photographers and thank them for the many upvotes and resteems he got from them…

Follow this account if you love photography… and who knows, if you’re a photographer yourself… you will maybe once be one of those that are followed and resteemed here 😊

Oh, one last thing, you’re free to guess who is behind this account of course… If I resteem your posts on a regular base, it means we are already interacting on steemit... but under my other account. So, just continue what you were doing... you're doing fine...

PS: If you think you know who I am, please don't tell anyone...

Then I found this blurb about the first incarnation of the Daily Spotlights, circa September 26th, 2017 -

I resteem a lot, no really, a lot… but you noticed that already… I also love photography… but that’s something you knew also… just check my feed if you just discovered me…

I know a lot of you are happy when their post has been resteemed… and some of you already know each other… but not everybody (and definitely not me 😊) And… you can’t see all posts I resteem…
So, I thought about something new…

From now on I’ll post once a day the post that impressed me the most the day before. I have some categories in mind, but right now I’ll start with the photo I liked, resteemed and am jealous of… Yes, an absolutely personal and subjective choice…

In the title I stated (almost) daily… because it will depend on my free time of course… I’ll try to do it daily, but can’t give any guarantees… I’m not a bot after all 😊

Why I do this?
Well, I see a lot of crap on steemit… but above all, I see a lot of talented people that just don’t get any upvotes or recognition. This way I hope to bring them a bigger audience…

So to start things of, let’s take a look at the picture that impressed me the most yesterday… (click on the picture to go to the post)

This Brown Pelican just stole my heart… Not that I especially love pelicans, but the editing of the picture is just great. It’s a picture made by Eduardo Fujii, @sea-otter, and encourage you to visit his feed and see all the other beautiful works he already published here on steemit…

I hope we share the same taste and you’ll support the artist by at least leave a comment, follow, resteem or upvote his work.
I don’t have any interest in the potential revenue of that post, or been asked by the mentioned artist. I just select someone, can be a minnow or a whale or whatever lives here, on a purely subjective base…
I also don’t keep records on who I mentioned before or not… I look at the work/photo, not the person behind it.

I think that’s it for now and hope you like this initiative…

Pixresteemer over & out and… Steem on!

Doesn't seem like much of a community, right? Just one person, with a bot account, resteeming stuff - what's the big deal?

Welp, just about a year ago (sometime in April 2018, I believe), the human bot decided to change the setup a bit -

Breaking News...

Nope… the news is not to announce that someone new has discovered my real identity, this time it’s to ask for your input…
I’ve been thinking (yes, sometimes I do 😉) about the concept of the Daily Spotlights and want to try something a bit different…
Right now the post/pictures I resteem are always from the same people… and as this is a small community, I bet you all already saw, voted or even resteemed the pictures I showcase in the Daily Spotlights. At least (and I know it’s been a while since the last DS) I noticed a decreasing interest for the DS…

Furthermore it would be great to see a bit more interaction (upvoting, resteeming, commenting) between the community-members…

So, for these reasons I propose to :

1. Limit the number of Daily Spotlights to 5 entries per edition.
2. I will select the 5 winners based on… your input! Just comment on every DS with the link of a post from someone you would like to see featured in the next DS. Yes indeed… someone else, not your own post 😉
3. The 5 winners will be resteemed and upvoted by me. Of course I hope you will all also comment and or vote on those posts from time to time.

What do you think? Feel free to comment with your feedback about this changes or even start by nominating someone… All other input is welcome of course!

From that point on, a community formed over this type of "pay it forward" recognition. People would comment with links to other Steemian's posts, then those people would take a look at the initiative and comment with links to others, and pretty soon there was a decent sized crowd participating on a regular basis. Not for any large upvote, or SBD - just for the resteem and ESTEEM from the PixResteemer community.

However, by August of 2018, there was still a core group of people sharing links and bonding over our love of good photography. In fact, we even formed a band (featuring @nolasco @deerjay @roxy-cat and myself)

So when @zord189 announced the Love Your Steem Communities PowerHouseCreatives Contest...

After the dpoll delegation contest by @theycallmedan ended, I recalled that I was chatting in my community channels, #powerhousecreatives with @jaynie and @fionasfavourites about all the other amazing communities that we've heard of and the ones that we've never heard of. It occurred to me that there are indeed MANY communities/initiatives on the Steem blockchain run by people who wants to contribute their time and effort to the blockchain but know that there is power doing it together.

These communities are out there to fit your every niche, in fact, I'm pretty sure there is always a community that you can join that you're comfortable with. Finding people with the same vision and mindset, and being able to work together motivating each other for the betterment of the blockchain is vital to the growth of this blockchain.

...this is the first one that popped into my brain. We don't have a Discord - all conversations take place on the blockchain. When I see PixResteemer show up in the reply section of my post, I don't think...

We've shared the joy of milestones, the pain of loss, the frustration of the roller coaster crypto market, all while sharing and enjoying each other's shutterbugging skills. The only requirement to join in is to find a post on the Steem blockchain that has a photograph you enjoyed (for any reason), and to share that link under the latest Daily Spotlight post.

And no matter the wailing & gnashing of teeth over the steem price, or what crazy whale wars are erupting on the blockchain, our dearest bot just keeps sharing the pixel love...
