RE: Do you think I should follow you? Convince me

in #post6 years ago

When we first joined steemit, people were telling us to choose a niche. We listened, and decided to blog on what we loved most, that is travelling. But we took it a step further, as we ONLY blog about Japan Travel. That is the only country that we really like to blog about. We realised this may be too niche a niche. Travel is a popular tag, but Travel + Japan may be too specialised. We wanted to share the beauty of Japan and make known to more people around the world. So, besides writing about our Japan travel experience, we also started a weekly digest where we select and curate posts from different authors on their experience.

We are at Week 7 now.

It was tough for us when we first started steemit too. And I still remember the first big vote that we gotten was from you @anomadsoul.

It was your my2017 contest. We made a post, a mistake, you corrected us, and even gave a big vote. It was the first time we gotten such a vote value and I can tell you, that single vote gave us the support and confidence to continue blogging in steemit. Just want you to know that a vote from youself or any whale to a minnow has such huge impact. It is that single vote that decides if a minnow is staying or leaving the platform. Thank you!

You have a good point. Even my favorite authors who specialize, for example in cooking, still post something about life or travel. It caters to the needs or wants of a wider range of audiences. That way, they don't lose their readers but attract more from other niches.

That's very true, i joined steemit early January and luckily I think that was the period @anomadsoul organised the contest my2017, I did the post and got an upvote from him and @surpassinggoogle which gave me over $5 upvote and i felt so happy because that was my highest pay as at then, even my introductory post didnt give me up to $1

Hi @inspiredgideon1. Happy to see you engaging around. I remember you from our #newbieresteemday community. You are definitely not a newbie any more! :)

Hahahaha why do you think am no longer a newbie @beeyou
I do visit #newbieresteemday once a while to encourage newbies

Hi @jrvacation. I commend you on finding a niche for your steemit experience. The weekly digest you have is awesome. Some of our community members have the same concept, but our focus is more on highlighting the posts of newbies starting here on steemit. We have some wonderful members reading and highlighting posts of those newbies that are trying their best to write good content. Very similar to your weekly digest.

Happy to see another community-focused initiative.
