Data Chief Quits
Shivam Shankar Singh, educated at one of the best American universities, joined the BJP in 2013. He played a crucial role in the 2014 election, which led to Narendra Modi’s victory. But today he said, enough is enough – the polarisation for political purposes has crossed all limits.
In his blog post, he gives the reasons for his decision to quit.
First, he listed out the positive results the Modi government has achieved in four years, in public works, such as road construction, more public and private toilets, more rail and road links with the NE states. However in regard to electrification, the number speaks for themselves: 500,000 villages were electrified under Congress compared to 18,000 under Modi. Modi has simply completed the works started by others years ago.
One of his criticisms is in regard to electoral bonds, which allows foreign powers to buy the domestic political parties, lawfully.
Another criticism is, the misuse of government agencies, such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), for political purposes. This kills dissents and destroys democracy.
Among the bad things, who can forget the Demonetisation and the appalling conditions of education and healthcare? Remember, the future depends on the quality of education and health of the people.
What's worse, the ruling party is incapable of acknowledging its faults. With a planned strategy, they fooled the gullible into believing that the Hindus are in grave danger and Modi is their last hope. This strategy only has polarised the society, politics and emotions like never before.
To cut the long story short, Shivam Shankar Singh quits BJP because of the party's addiction to: Fake news, propaganda, polarization.
