Budget And Bureaucracy (An Original Poem)
It’s the time of the year again
To bring out the crystal ball and the calculator
For budget time is just round the corner
To figure out the trends and the predictions
Would it be a year of profit or loss?
Get ready your assumptions
Prepare the basis of your calculations
For you need to cover all bases
In case there is a variance
You need your justification
Alas at times I wonder
Is budgeting a science or art or just pure fantasy
Declining revenue
Rising cost
Over expenditure
Less than expected income
Surplus or deficit budget
Are just some of the hassles
That I have to face when budget time is here again
About This Poem
This poem is dedicated for those of you who are preparing next year's budget for your organization. This now even more difficult to prepare in this times of uncertainty. Hope that this will bring a little humor as you are in the midst of this arduous task.
