Podcast Wednesday: (non political) Comedy Podcasts
I've covered political humor podcasts on Podcast Wednesday, now it's time for the non political funnies. I mean, they may sometimes have a political joke, but that's not the focus.
2 Dope Queens
Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson have already leveraged this podcast, in which they host a diverse group of comedians for sets, and usually interview one famous funny person, into a series of 4 HBO specials. That may be why the podcast is on one of its hiatuses. But it'll be back, so put it in your podcatcher.
Doug Loves Movies
This is, ostensibly, a film trivia game show. But really, that's just an excuse for a bunch of funny people to be funny together. Host Doug Benson is a stoner icon, so this show always has a bit of a buzz, but it also hosts the biggest names in comedy, and occasionally some pretty big Hollywood types.
Spontaneanation
One of the funny people who occasionally show up on DLM is Paul F. Tompkins, genius standup, sketch performer, and improviser. This is Tompkins' own show, where he interviews a famous person, and then he and a group of fellow improvisers do an improv based on a location that may have come from the interviewee or from listeners, which may include elements from the interview. It is a universal truth that bad improv is terrible, but this is improv with some of the best in the world at it. It is always funny, and it is always weird.
Comedy Bang Bang
Much like Spontaneanation, this one is also a mix of interview and improv. The difference being, people come in with characters, which are often returning characters. Host Scott Aukerman sets the stage by playing a fairly awful person, and guests such as Paul F. Tompkins (it's really hard to do a great LA based comedy podcast with out PFT), Lauren Lapkis, and Jason Mantzoukas all bring themselves and their characters to the show, which can and will go ANYWHERE.
How Did This Get Made?
Hosts Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas watch a terrible film, and then discuss it for an hour, usually in front of of an audience, with a guest or two who also had to watch the terrible film. If Jason or June can't make it, guest hosts are brought in. Paul is a constant, and he also hosts the bi-weekly mini episodes between the regular episodes, in which he discusses comments and corrections about the previous week's film, and announces the next week's film so listeners have a chance to watch it before listening.

I listen to a lot of the ones you mentioned.
I also listen to one called Stop Podcasting Yourself with a couple of comedians from Vancouver.
Retail Nightmares is also funny as is Jordan Jesse Go!
Film Sack is another hilarious podcast.
I listen to JJGO, but find it inconsistent, and really dependent on the guest. The best episodes are really great, though.
I don't listen to any of the others, though I've heard a million podcast ads for Stop Podcasting Yourself.
