New Zealand is an island country consisting of two large islands and about seven hundred smaller ones. Sea navigation lasts all year round, and locals have more than one million yachts at their disposal. In New Zealand, in order to control the boat, the license is not needed.

For example, in the small bay of the town of Tachekak there is a lot of water transport, and Auckland generally holds the first place in the world in the number of yachts per capita.

The money in New Zealand is plastic. And on the five-dollar bill a great New Zealander is depicted — Sir Edmund Hillary. This man, along with the Nepalese Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, was the first to climb Everest. The same bill shows Mount Cook and a photo of a tractor on which Hillary reached the South Pole.

Mount Cook (3754 m) — the highest point of New Zealand, located on the South Island near Lake Pukaki. It was on it Hillary trained before the legendary ascent. A beautiful view must be opening from the top.

Of course, we didn’t climb the mountain, but we walked around, looking at the thousands of stars that stretched over the Southern Alps.

The North Island of New Zealand is home to huge Kauri trees that survived dinosaurs and grew more than a hundred and fifty million years ago. Another name for these giants is Agathis australis. You shouldn’t just enter the forest of Wipouwa — you have to wash your feet in a special disinfecting solution so as not to spread the pathogens, and you shouldn’t go close to the kauri, because the roots are very close to the ground and are easily damaged.

Some especially old and famous trees have their own names. You can see "Tane Mahuta" — the god of forests and birds. The height of the tree is more than fifty meters, and the diameter of the trunk is about fourteen. It is believed that his age is from 1200 to 2500 years.

Muriwai beach is located on the west coast of the North Island, just forty-five kilometers from Auckland. The beach is huge — its length is about sixty kilometers.

The beach has black volcanic sand and excellent waves that attract surfers from around the world. There is a surf school here. The sand is black and quite hot.

It is not recommended to swim far away — white sharks used to attacke in these waters.

And if you are not interested in the beach, then just walk around the observation platforms on the rocks and watch the colonies of the Australian gannets. They are accustomed to people and absolutely do not pay attention to them.
