Longwood Gardens part 2 - some fountains

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

As I followed the path to the right upon the main entrance, easiest due to it being downhill and I was pushing a stroller, we quickly came a series of fountains.

What's pretty amazing about these fountains is the attention to detail on every single level. What they planted, how they planted, how they trimmed, simply awesome.

The depth of this shot will hopefully show how large this set of fountains and surrounding area are. Little fountains on the side, spring fountains, big one in the center with additional fountains to add to the effect. They put fountains on fountains like Xzibit was pimping someone's car.

They are even meticulous when they mow the grass. You know that thing you do that your neighbor does better and really makes you want to swat him for being a perfectionist but you're just looking at it like "screw grass, I'm just going to pour diesel all over it and add mulch." Yeah, that thing, they are even meticulous with mowing.

Another shot from a slightly different angle to showcase the fountains.

Now you might be thinking those are steps at first glance, and you'd be correct. But they are not steps for walking given how there is no access to actually walk on them. They are in fact steps for water. They made a set of steps for water to cascade down in a man made adaptation of a waterfall.

And if you don't think that water flowing down steps is cool, then I've got a question for you. In every movie where there is a flood or flood-like activity, what do they always show? Water....flowing....down....steps! Check my facts, go watch Hard Rain with Christian Slater, and your welcome for the enjoyment factor, it was a little hidden gem.

As steps go, those are pretty darn fancy. I bet they lift their pinkie finger when they drink tea, they're that fancy.

And one last fountain shot from a completely unrelated fountain from an angle that almost worked but I had to use because the other side of the fountain had a sixty person tour of old people complaining about cell phones.
