The rain falls down on the city streets,
A steady beat on the cobblestones.
Umbrellas bloom like colorful flowers,
Shielding the people from the downpour.
Cars splash through puddles,
Headlights cutting through the gray mist.
Taxi horns blare, a symphony of the city,
A counterpoint to the drumming of the rain.
People hurry along,
Seeking shelter in doorways and cafes.
But some slow their pace,
Enjoying the rare moment of quiet.
The rain washes away the grime of the city,
Leaving it clean and fresh.
And for a little while, the city slickers
Are united under one umbrella.
