Madeira, Portugal

Hi everyone!

For my first post, I would like to share a few photos of a place that means a lot to me, the beautiful island where I grew up. As a photographer, I tried to capture the island in order to keep a few memories of when I was a kid.

Madeira is a Portuguese autonomous region, it is located southwest of Portugal but is actually closer to the African coast (Morocco). It is mostly visited by many tourists from northern Europe especially due to its good weather and mild temperatures all year round.

It has rocky beaches due to it being mainly a basaltic Island which was formed by volcanic activity many years, no volcanic activity has been found over the last hundred years.

It is also know for its sweet wine! the famous Madeira wine.

Its capital is Funchal, the island is reported to have a population of 290k people.
