"Grayscale Willow"

in #photography6 years ago

This one is essentially the same photo as in the previous post, but with different processing.

I couldn't quite say which one I personally thought was better, so I decided to publish both.

I processed it in the way that the tree is in lighter, grayscale and less contrasty. It makes the photo appear a bit flatter, but in reality the tree was in the fog, and not actually as sharp as it was in the previous edit. This one is a lot more realistic. But tastes may vary. The main thing shared by both edits is that because of the fog, there's nothing else visible other than the tree and a little bit of earth in the foreground, and that's also true about the original view.

I hope you like it! I'm going to do a print of both edits. They are twins; complementary.

@gamer00,
Grayscale photography! That would be a nice one! Anyway in the nature it also looks in gray scale isn't it! Those are amazing scenery! Best for professional photography contests!

Cheers~

I really cannot see anything thing at the background of the picture because of the fog, am sure driving there now with the fog is quite hard?

am sure driving there now with the fog is quite hard?

Nah, there wasn't very much traffic that early, not on those roads anyway as I drove to the rural areas of Päijät-Häme. Anyway, driving in fog isn't anything new to me, happens often enough. :)

OK. You must be a good driver then.

I drove my daughter to school before eight am. There was no particular fog in the city at that time.

Funny that, as I was contemplating going for a foggy shoot at 7:15 after having seen the fog from our kitchen window while having breakfast.

The thickness of the fog must depend on local wind conditions and the amount of snow cover on the ground. The city center is always warmer than the suburbs. There was some fog out there where we live but I don't recall any visibility problems because of it.

So which means the fog is usually a mid morning short lived affair?

It may disappear quickly. The city center would have the least amount of fog and the lakes the most. That's because the air is warmer near the dark surfaces of building and roads and near all the waste heat from traffic and buildings whereas the lakes are covered by ice and snow.

I can understand.

I see so many willows these days. Soon I will start seeing them in my dreams!

Prefer this one to previous. Looks more extreme. Not used to that tree being a willow. Only knew of the weeping willow where the branches hang down.

This tree is Terijoensalava (Salix fragilis 'Bullata), a common tree in Finland. Its origin is not clear, but it is thought to be from either Karelian Isthmus, or Caucasus.

I like the contrast of the first but this post is more didactic and it's great that you want to experiment with creativity and certainly this photo has a very special atmosphere.

@gamer00 - Sir is this a plane area? A tree at a white background... Beautiful photography Sir... Why did you convert this photography into Gray color theme Sir?...

+W+

It's in black and white, but has much less contrast than the one I published earlier. I liked them both but was undecided over which I liked more.

Oh, and to answer the first question... the tree stands on a man-made bank in a lake, forming a closed in harbour. There is water on both sides, but in ice as I was shooting this photo. The ice was also covered with snow. So coupled with the fog, everything else but the tree was practically out of sight.

I like it. I might even see what it looks like with the ground cropped out. Just for example, but with yours have a bit of trunk!!

Hmm... I'm not sure...

Its got a cool shape! I sometimes like even more contrast to where the background is as white as the white on this page. Super stark like. Well its all good. With art, its all what is in the artists eye and mind. I just like to take a pic and just play with it and record the changes along the way. Its so cool how editing can change a photo. Well done, my friend!

Use the tree like a silouette and put the full moon pict you made behind it!
:O

Hmm, sounds fun, I might try that out. :)

i think it would look awesome!

Looks like a lonely tree from the movie where some poor girl died.
And then start killing everyone as a ghost!

Certainly you have a lot of reason, when it says that the tastes can vary, but nevertheless although both are very well, I leave with the previous publication. I repeat both are excellent, that foreground that you mention from a bit of land gives a lot of reality to the photo.
